i live in the UK so would it be safe if i purchase w7 from Microsoft Store?
On the US version on Amazon you can preorder w7 there with the good offer of $49
But the UK version on Amazon says you can pre-order on the July 15 (dunno if theres a offer or not)

How long is his offer going on no asian? Im on HK July 13, i hope the offer doesnt end soo soon >.<

i do not know if you can order from the US site and get it shipped to UK address; better check on it (by doing a test ordering on the system and see what happens); all the stores in US should be selling this upgrade for $49/$99 USD

according to the US site, the offer begins on June 26, 2009 and will continue while supplies last, or until July 11, 2009, whichever comes first; the UK site says the offer begins on 15th July, 2009 and will end on 9th August, 2009.

the offer for UK is similar to the US version, just that prices are in Pounds instead of USD: You can pre-order Windows 7 Home Premium E for £49.99** or Windows 7 Professional E for £99.99**.

For those who are planning to upgrade to Windows 7, you can run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements.

Think I'll try it once win7 SP1 is out ;)

  7. But this offer is only for upgrades though, u gota pay full for the full software. i may just go back to Vista next year, hopefully it will be fully fixed by then.

upgrading is same thing tbh, full version is when you dont have any OS at all, then you have to pay for full version, for example, people who got vista or xp 64 might aswell buy the upgrade version they dont need the full version

its the 7260 build. first rtm version i think.

i used those exact files and they work. using it right now =)
but i didn't use the activator.
the cdkey u get for RC works fine with this rtm build, so it remains genuine. (apply for it if u dont have one, its free)

is NOT the RC, is the RTM meaning Ready To Manufacture (aka going to the press)

no that is different, the one from MSFT's site is only the RC, meaning Release Candidate, not = RTM thou and that from MSFT's site will end in Aug. for public download

if you use the same key from RC, yours will expire when the RC expires, meaning June 2010; the make W7 activation patch will let you use it forever; as you may have not noticed ever since Vista, the key tells the disc on which edition of OS to install =)

i didn't know that. i thought they all had an expriry date.

    thanks

i couldn't get the activator to work before. i kept gettign an error when i tried to apply the patch (in safe mode)
might try again later then if it can get rid of the expiry

    In my opinion...
I think Windows XP > Windows 7 > Windows Vista
