External HD 1 TB

    if it hasn't been mentioned, make sure it doesn't require a AC power source and only powered by the USB cable.

    I bought a LaCie 500Gb HD and to my surprise, wires everywhere! which I hated.

    all 2.5" doesn't req. extra power other than the usb....all 2.5" are usb powered

  4. A portable one that doesn't require an external power source is probably better. 1 TB is quite a lot of space, you probably don't need that much space.

    Ok, I've gone ahead and purchased the one I originally posted. I figure I won't need to bring an external with me around campus, I should have enough space on my laptop for anything school related. And since I'm going to be using this for backing up and for w/e I'm downloading it seems pointless to sacrifice space for portability. I'll most likely be leaving this in my room while I back-up and download. So, thank you everyone for the input, I gotta say this was quite educational for me lol.
