o shit.. is this the problem for my seagate hard drive.. i can't fucking boot sometime for sure.. like only 20-30% successful booting for me.. :( i have a 500gb xD lol
this isn't the first time. seagate is going out of business. i've bought seagate HDDs before, all with faulty problems one way or another.
LOLz, this has been known a long time ago, i even posted a reply one some1's failing hdd from dell computers and there is a firmware update on it too!!! SG won't be going out of biz as 90% of the biz sector uses the SG brand...plus i have experienced failed hdd on all other brands too, nothing particular to worry about...
My thread on this issue, i HATE seagate Dead hard drive or what!! - PopularAsians, the Entertainment Destination I got a seagate HDD as a replacement BUT it was a updated firmware versions, no problems so far but i dont trust it so i only put stuff i dont mind losing on there
yes i am in the industry of selling computers i have used all the different drives from all over the industry and i have RMA'ed one of their drives before, i know their RMA process inside out =)
I have a Seagate as a main drive for one of my computers, its been running for 5 years and counting. Although I've been using WD because it's been said to perform better and they're quieter though not as quiet as Hitachi imo. Isn't Seagate the biggest in the server sector? They're not going to just disappear, as noasian has said.PopularAsians, the Entertainment Destination - View Profile: noasian@@AMEPARAM@@View Profile: noasian</title>@@AMEPARAM@@noasian
I also have a seagate for a near 4 years and like noasian said, it isn't going to just disappear out of nowhere
I have Seagates for over 10 years, fail rates like any other brand, nothing really special, they did indeed mess up with the 7200.11 but that didn't put me off, i now have a 7200.12, Seagate is still great for the price.
Aha my 500gb wouldn't show up in the bios guess its about time to ship it back for a replacement. My fault for being to lazy to update the firmware oh well at least it lasted a year+.
my iomega external 1GB HD failed. it was just out of warranty, so i opened up the enclosure and there were 2 x 500 GB seagates in there! one of them failed....it has whirling sound. i did not drop the external.....it just stopped getting recognized.
not as good as the WD Black edition as they come with 5-yr warranties thats why never buy retail products of external hard drive exact only if they come with more than 1-yr warranty as you can get enclosures like Antec (w/ 3 yr warranty) and drives with 3-5 years warranty... these are good =) Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA2 OEM *3YR MFR Warranty* Antec Veris MX-100 3.5IN Hard Drive Enclosure USB2.0 Black
