    Is it even possible?

Every time I tried, the rice gets too sticky and burnt and the oyster sauce is not uniform with the rice.

    Anyone know what to do?

No, I can't switch to a gas stove because the stove is not mine.

it really doesnt matter what stove u use (imo), how u do it is most important (maybe im wrong, that's just what i think.)

use left over rice, ALWAYS (best result); if u use just-cooked rice, maybe thats why its sticky. cool it down till the rice itself is solid enough.

i rmb watching a show, and that person said mix oil & left over rice together to prevent it sticking it to the pan/pot.

ONE IMPORTANT THING ABOUT FRIED RICE: NEVER, i really mean it, Don't press the mixture with ur spatula/whatever ure using to stir things. JUST DON'T, not good to the rice.

Well I want good restuarant quality and I'm pretty sure an electric stove is not going to help. One of my friend told me to buy a wok with a ring, which I'll probably do.

Heat up the wok, turn the heat down when your putting everything in.

Make sure you use overnight rice (meaning you have put it in the fridge to get the moisture out)

Put the oyster sauce last if you keep burning it, also mix it with water so its not as sticky or as salty

You don't have to put overnight rice, but it's fairly easier. You can just cook rice and just put a bit less water so when you take the rice out, it's more on the dry side but the rice is still cooked. Than mix the rice well so they don't stick together so much and let it cool off a bit.

Use a Wok if you can but the high heat is best, even a electric stove will work, just needs more time and work. Let the wok heat up, put a bit of oil, than put an egg or 2 mixed already, stir for a few sec than throw in the rice, stir it and mix it well, I try to separate the rice really well so they don't clump up together, it'll take awhile just stirring the rice till it's dry enough. If you want the golden rice affect, just put the mixed eggs in it after the rice is fairly mixed and not clumpy and once the eggs are in, you stir like crazy. I usually just add a bit of salt and a touch of soy sauce (not much). Add some green onions in the last min.

For veg, I just mix it in with the fried rice and stir till it's cooked. If you want to add meats (dry shrimps, roasted pork etc) you might want to cook it separately than mix it in with the rice later unless the meats are already cooked. Just don't put too much crap into it. Remember, it's fried rice!!! Mainly, MIX the rice well and keep stirring the rice till it's not clumpy and dry enough.

Alright thanks guy, you been great help. Using leftover rice was a great idea but do you have any idea how to make the rice tastier like do they in restaurants?

I used seasoning like oyster, garlic salt, and soy sauce but the rice still came out a bit plain. I'm pretty sure I used a good amount because the rice had a nice brownish gold color. Any ideas?

  8. try adding a bit of chopped shallots, shrimp, bbq pork, and egg...

restaurant ppl usually add 味精Monosodium glutamate to everything, making it taste better. but really, its not good to us

i went to the culinary arts club days ago & the prez made different styles of fried rice on an electric stove. honestly it wasnt that bad!! tho some of the flavors didnt come out much but i could feel the "wok hei" from the food. i noticed he left the pan on the stove for a while till loads of steam came out.

use better soy sauce, & some chinese rice wine, maybe u can use some sesame oil (good stuff)

electric stove and a gas stove's differences is that you don't get the instance temperature change.

it is possible to make a good fried rice on an electric stove is that when you have changed the heat down, just take it off that heated stove let it cool down then put it back on
that's the only advise i can give you coz that is what i do with my electric stove :)
