    Hello there ~

i will graduate next year (june 2010) and what i want to do is,
to go to australia during my summer vacation nxt year.
reason is that i want to improve my english ~
and the other reason is because i like australia (although ive never been there xD)
i was thinking of going to sydney ^^
yepp.... i want to work there... maybe i look for a part time job or sth like that ~

    the problem is:
i have no friends & family there, so i have to work by my own, but this isnt the main problem...
i dunno what opportunities i have....
there are many companies around here, which offers these kinds of work&travel....
but u have to pay a lot for that. >_<

so do u guys know any opportunities? maybe some of u have experience ?
i need visa, if i want to work there rite?
is it hard to get a job there?

    thanks a lot ^_____^

    Lol... im here bb...

anyways tisken...not sure how long u wanna stay as u didnt really mention...
i assume that uve got a german passport which means it would be super easy to get urself a "working holiday visa" with this visa u can stay in aussie for 12 months... i applied for a visa online n it took me like 10 min....

I know the organisations cost shitloads of money thats why i sorta arranged everything myself...
id advise u to save up lots of money..... rent is probably gonna b one of the highest expenses for u...my situation was a bit different cuz I stayed for a longer period for internship n work(6 months n later 12 months). Also, one of my mum's cousin lives there n he arranged a room for me somewhere where i've stayed for a bit... later i just looked for a room on this website: www.domain.com.au .... i think this website is probably more useful if u wanna stay for a long period anyhow, u can also have a look on www.gumtree.com.au (go to short term section) where they have lots of ads for rooms n other useful stuff... make sure u ask someone on PA (me/flames/evo maybe?) abt the areas u shouldnt rent a room in... u dun wanna move into some dodgy area.... oh n plz dont get confused: the prices listed on the websites(rent) r PER WEEK lol... i made that mistake >_<

if u wanna do it urself, the easiest job for u to get is: a casual job as a waiter, id try the ones in business areas cuz most of these are the one who operate during business hrs only which means u will have more of a social life after that (try to avoid asian rest. since they pay little >_<).... u can look for it once ur there... hence i told u to save up money for the first few weeks just in case :p...

oh yeah, keep in mind: when u talk abt summer in EU it will be WINTER over there :)....if u dun have school i honestly wouldnt advise u to go during that time... u def wanna go there during their spring time

its shitloads of work but its definitely worth it... Sydney is AWESOMEEEEEEEE.... Goodluck!

if u have any questions feel free to PM me la...

the first thing is to know what you want from this experience - improve english or whatever and your own "employable skills/experience/college degree"

second, you should contact your school career center for advice. sometimes, there are programs that can arrange everythings for you - fellowship, internship, etc..

third, do research on the industry, locations (like you're doing now), etc...

i don't know what you're studying but i recommend you look into consulting work. i loved mckinsey and it's the best workplace around the globe, at least according to my own experience and research. however, it's long hour type of work so you probably not gonna have time to social much. anyway, that's just a suggestion. you can look into other places like deloitte and touche or bain.

No friends?!?! =O You don't count me and evo as one
    Anyways areas to avoid:
Berala: A no no because of night time you'll get stabbed in that area, also new train timetable makes everything inconvenient
    Kingscross: Unless you like hookers
    Cronulla: Cronulla Riot

I have a friend who lives in Australia, or did, she came over to London a week ago to study - but she found jobs really easily - I think she had about 3 jobs going at once!

I don't know about you, but I find Australian accents quite hard to understand sometimes so if you were going to try and learn more English there, do you mean you would be tutored, or just being surrounded by English speakers?

I've always wanted to visit Aussie land too, lucky you! I don't know much about Visa's or opportunities, but I wish you the best of luck :)

reading all your comment, it seems like its not very hard to get a job there ~ xD
    what does RSL mean?
if i stayed there for 1-2month, do u think they would hire me...? cuz its a short period of time after all.... >_>

    @katibear
i think i just have the opportunity to speak english... cuz here in germany, i hardly speak english.....
actually im still thinking of going to london or australia... cuz london is not that far....

1-2 months... assuming u dont have lots of working experience n since ur stay is short n u mentioned PT work i honestly think job at a restaurant/cafe would be best cuz they have quite flexible hours for the job n u can also follow some short course if ur interested.... but totally up to u of course....

if i were u id just stay in city (area) of Sydney....lots of jobs there, theres china town which im sure u will abs feel comfy in haha.... n dont go to melbourne cuz in short: MELBOURNE SUCKS :p

Yes, I didnt like kings cross either... =/.... been there a couple of times... kinda dodgy
When I was in Sydney Hugo's was quite a hotspot too at first... it was known to be a popular spot... I didnt really like it... it was a stiff place imo >_<
