DUBLIN (Reuters) - Irish parents struggling to buy schoolbooks and uniforms in the face of a deep recession may now have to worry about sending their children to school with a toilet roll as well as a packed lunch. Pupils at a primary school in the southern county of Cork are being asked to bring their own toilet paper to school to help save money, one of the starkest examples yet of the death of Ireland's "Celtic Tiger" economy. "The letter was sent out just as a way of balancing books here in the school and not intended as a demand," said Catherine O'Neill, principal at St John's Girls National School. O'Neill said the request was made because of cuts to government grants for books and computers. She added that parents were responding well. "I've done a quick tour of the classrooms this morning and I'd say at least half the pupils have brought them (toilet rolls) in," she told national broadcaster RTE. "I have no doubt that there are an enormous number of schools out there that are doing the same thing." Source ------------ GGed
not really a bad idea since some kids always plays with the toilet papers like it's free, now more trees will be save from the over used of toilet papers...lol
im glad that we guys dont need toilet paper when we do our "little" business................................
tisken.... i kinda like that idea lols not like the primary school kids are gonna care much as long as they can use the toilet
wow .. the toilet looks clean .. unlike those here in the states .. NASTY .. so much that I rather cut class to go off campus and use the one at a nearby restaurant. graffiti, clot up drain, stuffed toilet ... you name it ... oh yeah .. the smell ... lol
aww i remember the days where we wasted the loo rolls in the toilet and wet it and through it on the walls or the ceiling and it being stuck, not a bad idea to teach people like me a lesson to save it (of coursei dont do that now, i know how much loo rolls cost :()
lol .. that reminded me of my college year where my frat bros and I totally toilet papered the entire house of a rival frat .. lol .. now that was a huge waste of paper .. oh yeah, eggs too ..
Didn't know it was free before...In high school, one time, the toilet paper was free but after 1 month, they stopped giving us because students was wasting it...
^lol, too late now because i ain't in HS anymore, anyways, every HS here don't offer toilet paper unless you ask the reception
i didn't know this until i graduated from high school ... school regardless of public or private is obligated to provide the necessary basic hygiene for the safety and well being of students. that's why when there's no hand towel, the school has to install those fan dryer.
...i cant believe ur school just stop giving out toilet paper!! mine is very clean and nice (i guess cuz it's still consider to be new, construction ends 05), except i rmb several times some toilets are clogged w/ brown poop, i literally saw the diarrhea poop, that person must had a tough time.
