True, but it just goes to show that the more educated you are in the first place, the more you're prepared to do with your life... -innocent2

I don't know about that; even with Star Trek, there's a lot of stuff to know and remember, especially with the original series. It was the basis of iconic quips like beam me up and (though technically incorrect), was widely remembered as the first interracial kiss on popular US television (Episode 65: Plato's Stepchildren first aired Nov 1968). Despite it only having run three years, it spawned an entire science fiction culture that witnessed the creation of ten major movies, with four additional television and then an animated series. In popular culture the Trek phenomenon has easily achieved cult status and it's hard to find anyone who is not at least loosely aware of what Star Trek is. I'm sure modern social or cultural anthropologists would find such dedicated coursework immensely useful.

Nah... they really take money from students by accepting them (and their tuitions) even though they already know those students have little hope in ever completing of a degree. ;)

that a load of crap talk, economics run your world lol.

no country bank, central bank, reserve bank what ever..you would be suffering so bad in financial, gfc would be like mega gfc.

Economics are the pople who run your money in the country so think about it more carefully lol, sounds like a statement from someone who doesn't know much about reality lols.

From what I perceived of the list above, a degree is useless if it doesn't provide you a adequate level of opportunities.

That's why I said Economic is useless, in terms of job opportunities. If art history is on the list, why not Economic? Art History is important in its own right, and like what you stated, ""What career would you ever get with a degree in art history? Maybe an art gallery curator, but how many of those does the world actually need?""
Job opportunities for Economic major are scarce. The only opportunity I can think of is working for the government and the opportunities for that is just as slim as finding a job in the Art History field.

I am an external auditor, by the way. I have enough dose of reality, thank you very much!

Only heard about the philosophy and Art history degrees...
People usually choose these degrees when they have no other choice(not enough credits and don't want to repeat a year) or are crazy fans!!

I don't think art history sounds useless. It might seem useless if you want to make a career out of it but it's just extra knowledge/interest that someone wants to learn about ><
it shouldnt be there!! >< but the others are LOL.

my opinion, it could be easier if you have experiences and with the degree.
