Hong Kong pop queen Joey Yung denies being lesbian Hong Kong pop queen Joey Yung remains unfazed about rumours of her having a gay relationship with her good friend Denise Ho. Yung had joined several friends to attend Ho’s Supergoo 2009 concert at Hong Kong’s Coliseum over the weekend. When Ho sang the supposedly gay-themed love song entitled Lawrence and Lewis, said to be dedicated to Yung, she was seen to be singing along with her. “I’m amazed at how people can jump to such conclusions,” Yung replied when asked to comment. She maintained that “girls can be very good friends, too.” Yung, 29, was already friends with Ho, 32, before they entered into showbusiness. The singer was in town to attend a press conference to promote her sixth Mandarin album Hen Mang (Very Busy) and her 14th Cantonese album entitled A Time for Us. Yung, who had been in showbiz for 10 years, had been busy with her concerts and new albums. On recent news reports that her latest Mandarin album cover was similar to that of Japanese pop diva Ayumi Hamasaki, she said: “I’ve never seen it so I did not know of any similarities until I read the news reports. As an artiste, it is not possible for me to look into everything so I have to rely on the art director and creative team.” As for getting Taiwan-based Singaporean singer-songwriter JJ Lin, 28, to produce the song Zhe Jiu Shi Ai Ma? (Is This Love?) for her Mandarin album, Yung said it was the first time she has collaborated with a producer who was younger than her.
