Inspiring Story, but end in tragedy: 3 University students drowned after trying to save 2 children Basically, more than ten students went in to save the kids. They were holding on to each other in the water to ensure their own safety. Apparently it took too much time and energy to save the kids, 3 of the university students were exhausted(didn't know how to swim) in the end and drowned. It was an urgent situation. they didn't want to stand there and watch the childrens drown therefore made a heroic act. What a brave thing to do! http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMTI3ODE0Njcy.html Touching scene, The two recued childrens and their parents were kneeling down to show their gratitude to the victim's parents. http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMTI4MDg4NTA4.html
ask someone else who knows how to swim to save them, i don't know how to swim, too. I aint being selfish, you wanna save the kids, then u gotta do it in the smart way
It's sad indeed cuz they just started to experience life ... but I am not sure what to say for university student"S" to act so stupidly. Should've known better .. how can you save others when you can't even save yourself.... ppl should learn to stop playing hero ..
Smart move... the time it takes for the call to the EMS and for them arrive they kids would have been closer to drowning.
What makes you assume that China even has an EMS? LOL... This from an article abstract a while back: The EMSS (Emergency Medical Service System) is rather in its infancy and is nowhere near what most people in the west take for granted. If you have an accident or sudden medical illness, for the average Chinese, this means getting to the hospital yourself, or you die. Chinese medicine (meaning delivery of services) is great if you have money. But if you're a regular person, forget it. Long lines, shitty service, people have to hire stand ins to wait on lines to make appointments; and if you don't have money to pay for the medicine or services? You can eat shit and die, NEXT! The only place in China that has the same quality of street EMS care (EMT and EMT-P) as the west, is in Hong Kong. Spoiler: And for those that are interested in these things... Considering that the US and UK standard for STEMI is a door to needle time of less than 30 minutes, I find the Chinese median 85 min vs 93 mins to be shockingly dismal. If you're going to have a heart attack? Don't do it in China. As for the people that tried to save those kids? Brave but rather foolhardy; forming a human chain doesn't prevent them from sinking. The swimmers amongst them could have tried to effect a rescue while the non swimmers should have ran for help. But then again, hindsight is always 20/20. It's a shame that the area didn't have more safety precautions (life guards, life saving emergency flotation devices etc). Even something cheap or low cost like styro-foam panels could have helped to save them.
