    netbooks are much slower compare to laptops..most of them come with the intel atom processor, you'll probably need to add some more ram, and overclock it if you want it to be faster. Probably the only reason I got myself a netbook is because the battery life last so much longer, so I don't have to go find an outlet when I'm in class.

    atom cpu = p4-m in spec wise;
    also there are atom (dual core) coming in 2010
    the current models should be N280 with support of wireless N and most would only support up to 2GB ram

    netbooks are mainly used for taking notes, checking email and doing the "basic" stuff on the go; great item to bring it on a cruise trip or travel around
    you don't really want to OC the cpu as it is soldered onto the board, if that dies, there goes $400 and only comes with 1 yr warranty

    wont be able to game (unless its like sc2 and some do wc3), watch HD videos. theyre basically for on the go such as typing or browsing the internet. theyre small, light. so its good for people that travel or go to school. i believe the biggest screen size is 11 or 12 for netbooks but i could be wrong.

    the keyboard is a big difference compared to laptops depending on the brand of the netbook the design of the keyboard is different, a lot of people prefer testing it out at BB or FS first before purchasing cause they dont like how small the keys are.

    What it can't do with standard netbook equipped (N270/N280 w/ GMA 950: Games, HD video, and Flash Games/Video that require high res.
    What it can do with N270/330/230 and ION: Games and HD Video but flash playback still requires CPU until Adobe update that makes the GPU usage instead of CPU.
    What it can do with Intel Celeron SU2300 and GMA 4500: Flash video playback, HD video, faster than the Intel Atom.

    Now, not many netbook uses Nvidia ION GPU yet in the United States besides the Lenovo S12 ($599.99) and the HP Mini 311 ($399.99).
    Mini size notebooks are Acer AS1410 ($399.99), Toshiba T135 ($549.99), Lenovo U150 ($699.99), Gateway EC1410u ($399.99)

    you don't really have to drop it.
    for a full size notebook, it depends on how much you spend also.
    the new dual core (2010 q1 or q2) atom should handle everything listed besides games. Even with a full size notebook, gaming is still not possible unless you have a good built in graphic that came with it but won't come with a low cost notebook if that's what you're looking for. Photoshop is doable on netbooks or any kind of notebooks. I'm using CS4 portable on my 1.6GHZ Single Core Intel Core 2 Solo which is only a little faster than the Intel Atom N270.

    bbes Incredible

    the architecture of the intel core 2 solo is so much better than the one of the atom and besides that supports 64-bit so there is a difference when using photoshop cs4. also, photoshop relies on ram as well which a normal notebook will prob have more of. i mean u can get a rele decent notebook for a little more than a netbook and the performance will be so much better.
