Anyone played this game yet? I reeeally want to play it but the online fees are a pain in the a**.

I always laughed at WoW players paying for a sub, when they could just play Guild Wars for FREE and GW is far better...

But now, Aion. It looks like such a beautiful game to play!

I had friends that played it, and one liked it while the other hated it. the one that hated it says there's no substance to the game as you grind (not that wow is any better) all day long. but apparently they changed the whole game completely recently with a patch?

I'm not sure if they implemented the new graphics yet, I played at launch and they didn't have those graphics yet, it was still around the Dx9 type of GFX.

I played the first free month and didn't get too far because I also had a WoW subscription and I played a lot of Street Fighter 4. I'm thinking of going back in a bit since they're making leveling easier and the updated graphics are a good addition.

And the bit about subscription fee.. it's only $15 a month, if you play more, you can get it for $13 to $14 a month for longer billing cycles. I'm sure you eat and drink more per month, so $15 is no biggie if you have a job.

  4. yea.. but for jus a dollar a day.. you can feed hungry starving child in some third world country...

but anyway... I never liked the idea of pay and play... it just doesn't feel like I have ownership of the game even though I had bought the game..

Aren't people on that Dragon Age right now?? Aion is old news... although trailer does look pretty good.

Yeah but you still need money to maintain servers. Dragon Age is single player not MMO.

  6. WAT!!! GW was rubbish :p, i bought the game and played it once... it was laggy for me though, didnt like the controls, but back then i was a wow fanboy.

You dont own the game, you own the disk which holds the game files at most which saves you from having to dload the client (for free), remmeber the game is held on a server rather than your disk, its the upkeep of the server which you are paying for, that's why the clients tend to be free to download and the cost is in the subscription like wow and GW (one-time subscription).

  7. its funny how both Aion and Guild Wars have character with wings..

Only MMorPg I ever played was Age of Conan.. but yea.. stopped after awhile..

  8. AoC was the most fail game eva!! i wanted to play that game but they were being silly not giving free trials then when the game bombed and the false promises stopped working they threw out a trial and nobody cared -bowroflarms

Yeah I think the trailer I linked shows the new changes, it looks sooooo pretty!

Hey hey now master_G, seems we are disagreeing on something here :p Guild Wars is so good! Maybe you could give it another try, I think I have some trial keys if you don't own it anymore :p

Athough mind you since I moved house I haven't played it, I was addicted to it before then, playing hours on end!

And concerning the money thing, I can barely afford to feed myself, so it's unfortunate that I wouldn't be able to pay for the sub :(

They rushed AoC and they had bad customer service too. A lot of the content wasn't in the game and people were stuck grinding from level 60 to top level. Loot didn't drop from most of the mobs, not enough quests were implemented, and the combat was kind of wonky with the collision detection. World of Warcraft is still the best MMO on the market no matter how you love or hate it.

Played Guild Wars. It was good up to a certain point. Then it got repetitive and annoying. Before you say I should "give it a chance" I've played through all 4 campaigns.

  12. OMG there's a thread for this game? XD

i tried beta, nice graphics, but not worth paying monthly =(

yeah..only reason i was playing was cuz a friend bought my sub so i could play with them and turns out their pc couldn't handle the graphics and i stopped playing since they weren't anymore lol...btw...it takes up too much hdd space too...these games are only good if you can get enough friends to play imho otherwise not really

  14. what about Diablo?? kinda wanna get on that..

Diablo 2 is too old. It won't run over 800x600 resolution I think. I can't play that game anymore, spent enough hours on it in my JHS days. MMO's are different, they're more social so I enjoy them more than playing Final Fantasy and such. I just have a different attitude towards different games, so I'm not like.. "eww WoW has childish graphics", but it's a pretty fun game when you have friends playing with you.

  16. Thats your opinion lol... in my eyes GW sux so hard..
you were limited to play with 4 people (not sure if they fixed it)
    and its all the same..
ok.. most of the MMORPGs are the same grinding and stuff.. but.. the one is better then the other.
I played WoW before and i just liked it because of the WC universe and don't forget.. everyone is playing WoW.. and back in the days.. hella you couldnt play with 20 other friends with GW..
I don't even know where i have thrown away GW xD but didnt even bothered buying the rest of the expansions..
Ah well.. no more MMORPGS for me :p takes too much time to accomplice something
