REGINA, Saskatchewan, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- A provincial judge sentenced a Regina, Saskatchewan, man to three years in prison for tearing off a woman's toe with pliers for an unpaid drug debt. The sentence handed down by Provincial Judge Marylynne Beaton sentenced Daniel Theodore, 26, did not include the five months he has already spent in custody, the Regina Leader-Post reported Thursday. Theodore pleaded guilty to aggravated assault last week after the court heard how he and two unidentified women took the 35-year-old victim for a ride outside the city July 11 and then attacked her. Prosecutors said Theodore used blunt pliers to rip off the victim's baby toe before telling her "debt paid," the newspaper said. The trio abandoned the woman by the roadside and she flagged down a passing motorist for help, court heard. The judge called Theodore's actions "vigilante justice" that scarred the victim physically and psychologically and carried harsh repercussions. "Abusive, violent conduct cannot be tolerated, and must be met with a severe sanction," she said. Source ---------- Should have paid him in other ways
Ouch :/ Drug debt though? Hmm, not saying she deserved it but she had it coming I guess. Not saying it was the right thing for him to do of course.
That's generally very Asian mob kind of thing; that is, cutting off one's pinky finger as an act of atonement.
