Right. I'm a vegetarian. But lately, I've had an urge to try salmon again - last I ate it was probably like 11 years ago. And I don't mean tinned salmon, I want fillets kinda thing This is really out of the ordinary for me, like you wouldn't believe Just wondering what's everyone's favourite thing to do with salmon? As in, what you cook it with, how you cook it e.t.c
On a grill, with lemon. Preferably, when out salmon fishing, nothing beats having it freshly caught and thrown on the grill.
i like to fry it, the oil is like, WOW, just good the sauce in this one's: vinegar+walnut+sesame oil the salmon potato balls Bosco Wong made in Starry Kitchen looks very nice
i love salmon :eat: i like it in sushi Spoiler hehe, i like it grilled with some lemon an veg as well^^
I don't think I'm brave enough to eat it raw yet >< and certainly won't be catching these fishies myself First of all you need a licence here to do such thing which is a lot of money annnnnd I don't think I could like cut off it's head and stuff myself...c'mon i'm a veggie! haha things like that to me are sick okay, lemon and salmon is on my shopping list Kay, don't suppose you have a recipie for the salmon potato balls or anything? They sound nice. ...Also, do you find many bones in salmon? Because if I eat it, and find a bone - I'll never eat it again
well if u get like fillets of salmon...it woulda been deboned already....but maybe just a few tiny bones...but be careful init... fishing is fun ^^ Salmon Potato Balls Ingredients 1/2 lb. Salmon, cooked 1 Cup mashed potatoes 1 Egg 1/4 Cup shredded cheddar 1 Tbsp. onion, minced 1 Tbsp. chopped parsley 1/2 Cup flour Salt & pepper to taste Vegetable oil Method: Flake the Salmon. In a bowl mix salmon, potatoes, egg, onion, parsley, salt and pepper. Form mixture into small balls and dredge in flour. Deep fry balls in vegetable oil for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. ~~~~~~~~ Also, u can try marinating the salmon with garlic, soy sauce, honey, ginger, salt an pepper etc first before grilling it
I wouldn't mind fishing, I've always wanted to try, I'd just want to put them back afterwards - alive Mmm that sounds good, I wonder if it would be just as good without the egg? I don't eat egg either... I'm so fussy. I'd definitely marinate it like you suggested, sounds so good. yum yum. Maybe a stupid question, but what does it mean by 'Flake the salmon' i'm a complete noob when it comes to meat/fish cooking
the egg is for frying, u need the sticky-ness to attach the flour on your balls in order to fry beautifully to flake means to break it down into smaller pieces a big piece of salmon usually has like at least 4 bones, put ur hands on it and feel the bones then pick'em out, i loveeeee the skin after i fry it...yum
flake it.....use a fork to break the meat to pieces technically, u wnt really taste the egg.....but i'ma google for a egg substitute
okies, thanks girlies! I know I won't taste it... but I'll know it's there >_> Sometimes if I'm out, i'll eat something I know has egg in it, or may have egg in it - and I'll eat it... but if I'VE put the egg in, or SEEN the egg go in, then I can't eat it.... I know i'm really odd... really strange when it comes to food... Think ima try those salmon potato balls next since I have another bit of salmon left over -woot2 But I tried the salmon today Put it in foil with sesame oil, pepper, bit of salt and lemon in the grill... Was nice, but I didn't eat the dark bits... What is that white stuff that comes off it when it cooks anyway? >_> I ate it but I was like D: ummm
i love salmon I love it smoked (with cream cheese in bagel or baguette or sandwich) i love it raw with sushi how i usually cook it is with this recipe: (also quantity is up to u and how much u want of each flavour) - ginger (thinly sliced) - spring onion or shallots (finely diced) - salt -pepper - soya sauce (little bit as you have salt already) - some sort of sauce that usually has bits in it and it is used for cooking like chinese bbq, sa-cha sauce, dam dam meen jurng (noodle sauce for extra kick in sauce), xo sauce etc... - a little bit of chilli and cayenne (that is if u want it spicy.. if not u can leave these 2 out) ^^put salmon in center foil large enough to wrap it up.... then rub up/ marinate your salmon with all of the above except the ginger and onions once done place ginger and onions on top kinda covering them... wrap it all up and chuck in the gas mark 5 oven for well 15 mins if small ish meat but longer if the fishmeat is very thick....
-lol you sound like a chef! Do you want to come cook for me? Thanks for that, and yeah spicy definatley loooove spicy fooood Thanks for that -hug
^ haha i followed a similar recipe to what my mum made but i tweeked it for my personal reference tbh ^^ the msut have is the ginger and onion and peppers coz they take the fishy smell and taste away
^ Yeeaaah, ginger is good. Obsessed with ginger... tastes good on most things Anyway, I made those Salmon potato balls last night - NOM NOM! Okay, so they don't quite look like balls, but they were yummy. I didn't put cheese in them though, even though I like cheese I thought it would have been a bit too much, but I wish I had put cheese in now - Ah well next time Thanks for the recipe May !
