My friend is 17 and her bf proposed to her with a ring. Now they are engaged. They say they're gonna want till she's 18 to marry. They also plan to live together after she graduates. It's gonna be about a while before she turns 18, so they're waiting a bit. He's going into the air force so she's planning on just following him. And going to college wherever he is. Oh, in the past, he's cheated with his ex, but that was about a year ago so, I don't know if he's changed because I haven't talked to him in a while. And they were dating while he was still with his ex-girlfriend. But again, he's gone through air force training so I don't know if that has changed him to be more faithful.

I was gonna outright oppose, but I thought maybe I'm being too narrow-minded. It's gonna be a while before they get married, so I'm thinking that if she can get through the year and the wedding plans and the parents and all that. Perhaps they are sincere about this. Am I wrong?

how has your friend been together with this guy? they can always live together for a while first, don't have to get marry so quickly right?
18... isn't a bit too early? or i would think a little immature to realise what may lie ahead in a marriage.

Well i wouldnt say no to marriage at the age of 18, because your at that age your known to be an adult universally and you have the right to make your choices. But in your case, he's been cheating and all i mean, its hard to change a person's "personality" if you want to put it this way. I dunno if you ever heard of the chinese saying (translated the best i could) " Once unfaithul, never used in a 100 times". So i guess you gotta just imply to your friend, think twice before she makes the decision. I mean you have all the right to care for you friend but what she does is a different story.

this is obviously going to end bad. common. we've seen movies like this! PAY ATTENTION TO THE MOVIE!

  13. u said she won't b turning 18 for a while so just wait n see... if they do live together maybe they'll start ripping each other apart before she turns 18 :p

anyway if their family isn't opposing i guess u don't really get a say in this but to wish them luck... if u keep ur mouth shut at least ur friend won't say "i shouldn't have listened to ainikawaii..."

one thing i find is that relationships happen very quickly when people don't know each other that well. then time goes by very quickly and a year goes past but u only see each other a few times so rele u still don't know each other well. if u live with someone for a year then it is different. u start to know each other a lot better and their habits. this is why relationships from university are the ones that tend to last if they are right for one another. cos people are in close contact at university and together the majority of the time as u tend to move in with one another or u just see each other everyday so u tend to develop greater feelings compared to when ur out of university and working where u will be busy a lot of the time.

also, at the age of 18 ur still not rele mature so it is far too early and u don't know what ur doing in the future. but i don't rele mind the age as long as each other are commited with one another. it's just at such a young age u don't rele know what commitment is tbh, u say it but u don't know what it involves as u tend to be more immature and it's easy to say it. commitment is rele tested when someone moves away. also, u mention about this guy going through air force training. sorry to burst ur bubble but that means nothing in terms of fidelity.

  15. Thats just dumb.. they're both not financial stable.. the guys a douche.. cheated twice..

and he's Gwai Lo.. don't date da gwai lo!!!

My guess is he want stay faithful to her... plus air force is gonna mess wit the kids mind..

17 years old? I bet one of them needs a damn green-card to avoid deportation to some wasteland like Kosovo!!!
It's a very time-sensitive circumstance. Marry now! What's the downside to waiting??? DEPORTATION!!

    Yet if I'm wrong...

Here's my advice: Convince them to wait.
If they really love eachother, then they still will be after a few years
    (but let's be honest)...

PS: Scratch that advice above... Just prepare yourself to gloat in a few years or sooner -rockon

  17. The guys a cheat but the girl is a cheat also for going out with him while he was with someone, if she had integrity she would have ended it as soon as she found out.

Are either one or both of them born with a silver spoon? Focus on education first, then career and then full time commitment. It sounds like parental words but I was on that road.
Being 18 forever is fun but a myth.
