After the X-mas attack .. everyone not are subject to full body scan .. WTF .. do you believe that will help resolve the threat?? No matter how tight security will be, there will always be weak spot and that's enough to cause trouble. NOW though, everyone is suffering. I think airliner should stop all carry on bag .. give out sock with traction like those in the hospital .. at least thing will pass through security faster .. not need to stop, take off shoes, put on shoes, check bags one by one .. so much easier .. why waste the money on scanner that lead to more problems - legal, financial, etc ... I don't believe full scanner will make us any safer. I don't care about the privacy issue .. just think it's a waste of time and money when so many important social services programs are cut.
Its a peculiar issue on both sides. Customers want to feel safe when travelling, but how much of their privacy are they willing to give up? The question also stands, are these full body scanners effective? This new scanner may be seen as a bit of an inconvenience, however, is it worth it for the protection it gives. It may not stop a so called terrorist, but security works best in layers. This device may be another part of that security layer, but again, it's effectiveness is in question.
No Choo Choo, Please The companies responsible for delivering the scanners can't guarantee, that their machines work properly when scanning for powdery substances. Besides, the child porn law prohibits taking pictures of nude children!!!
i'm just wondering, can these scanners see through your clothes as if they aren't wearing any clothes? or is it like an x-ray scanner where they can only see your bones, and such. lol. but w/e it is still a lot of privacy to give up if you're a girl.
I wouldn't be doing this, having some pervert behind closed doors looking at nekid pics of me and i DEFINITELY wouldn't allow my kids to pass though that thing if i was a parent with some perv looking at naked pics of them >.< Just use the skeletal ones like in japan, so typical of western world to use these devices. It will never be compulsory because of human rights and privacy laws unless Martial law kicks in or something, but if that happened i doubt anyone would be going anywhere. Its basically a naked image of the person, and yes it just makes you look like you were naked, they could do a skeletal one but thats not controversial enough. does the first option come with a free colon cleanse
^the scanner doesn't save any images, because of privacy and also everything is scanned by a computer, so nobody is actually watching these photo's At this moment the full body scanner is still experimental, the Full body scanner is just another link of the chain to make it all safer, so it is not 100% fail proof, they admit it themselves. But it is wrong to say that this doesn't make anything safer, because of the full body scanner you can see things which normal you cannot find by searching and even so, what is the chance that everyone get searched 1 by 1? that the line would be even longer, this is just to find things that metal detector normally can't find.
... Hollywood did have it right ...
^ thats how it should be.. but frequent flyers are gona die from the x-ray machine. can you show me the source to what you read that says nobody is monitoring these images and its all done by the computer. cus an article i read concerning this said a person sits in a room looking at these images. what i read "However airport chiefs say the black and white image will only be seen by a single officer in a remote location before it is deleted." Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-taken-human-X-ray-machine.html#ixzz0cJmBwIQm Bet he's gona have some stories to tell at the end of each day....
Government officials made it clear that only one person will be able to view the scanner screen at a time, and that images can not be stored. The initial implementation requires border protection police staff to view the screens, but the next version will be fully automated, and a computer will determine whether any items are on your body that require closer scrutiny. http://www.gadling.com/2009/12/30/the-netherlands-to-start-full-body-scans-of-all-us-bound-passeng/ Hmmm, guess it's the upcoming version but so far i know, this is only said for the Dutch airports that they are going to do it by computer
they can't see much tbh... the face of people are getting covered by computer.. and i think the photo's of playboy are way better looking then the body scanner photo's
I don't believe that nothing is being saved .. it just say that to keep the "legal" challenge away regarding privacy issues. In reality, how many are in the room or who's in there .. no one really knows. It will never be automated .. someone will always be there to check and make sure ... what if the computer failed to read and people with dangerous items go through .. Anyway, I am not concern about the privacy issue but more the health and wait. Flying used to be so fun .. buy your ticket at the counter, check in your flight and baggage, hop through a metal detector, and bam .you're the plane ready to take off .. less than 1 hour .. now .. I have to go to the airport 4-5 hours before to ensure boarding on time .. ridiculous. I remember being able to talk to family at the gate until boarding time .. no, everyone and everything are blocked ... sigh .. does it make us safer? perhaps a bit but look at what we had given up thus far and may be more in the future...
^ i would have to agree, those picture will be saved without our knowledge... i bet hot celebs would see more "fake" nudes of themselves on the interwebs.... carry on items will always be a top priority as a passenger, especially for business people. Unless of course your airline can provide w.e. it is a passenger may need even to the people sitting in economy class. maybe they can adjust the rendered image so that the body isn't just a flat color but as some sort of black and white pattern and suspicious objects are shown as big red X's... yes it still does render the person's body but not like a skin tone.... idk.. just throwing idea out there...
Honestly I don't see a problem with this system, I would rather sacrifice this privacy for guaranteed safety. Whats there you need to hide??? It's not like someone is walking around with a dildo up their ass or something...
