lol. its apple your paying for the name and the apple logo... but..seriously the avg. user would be fine without all these unnecessary add-ons that apple offers.
its f-ing ridiculous..... its like robbery, but i guess it does have its place... separating fools from their money
Really,3k is too much for a computer and it ain't the most powerful one. In the 3k,it includes the brand name you have to pay...
they are charging like £500 for a £100 2TB hard drive, crazy people. or a nice mansion with horses for less than $887,000
Put it this way: you buy it, you are dumb. It's simple as that. Sorry if that offended anyone, please don't hate me for being honest. I'm sick of Apple coming out with inferior products than the competition but they give it the 'cool' factor and suddenly it's awesome and their army of brainwashed idiots will buy it in the blink of a eye.
you know, i don't see anything wrong with this price tag. let me break it down: 2 Xeon Quads for a total of 8 cores @ $500 EACH (i checked) say 400 for the mobo that can run these two xeons say 100 for the RAM 150 for the GPU like 80 for the PSU and like 80 for the HDD a few more bucks for the cables and what not and one thousand dollars for the case and apple brand just about a total of 3k. =\ it's an 8 core xeon machine. i expect it not to be under 2k
Dan, your pricing adds up to $1810, if you are going to tell me the other $1489 is the cost of engraving of the apple logo on the case than my point: WHY?!, clearly has been made. lets give the processors a price tag of 700 ea, thats 1.4k, add the motherboard 500? 1.9k. ram -200, 2.1k. 640GB HDD - 100, 2.2k. Video Card - 200, 2.4k. mouse, keyboard, cables, 150 - 2.55k. That shit is still 750 more than necessary. Have you heard the reason why apples charges so much? Direct quote off their site: buncha bull I'm sure intel xeon was built by Mac
it is Two 2.26GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, single unit is about $500 6GB high end Kingston ECC ram, support up to 32GB, ECC RAM can't be just $100 + higher end Server/Workstation board, some cost as much as $800 power supplies cannot be less than $80, plus MAC basically has EVERYTHING pre-installed thats why all the plug in of printers/digicams work whereas PC has none of these installed and users have to manually install them.... i could probably get this done under $2k CAD
regarding the case and brand: --> And Xeon is a non-consumer server grade multicore CPU made by Intel. keywords: non-consumer, server grade, which means: very very expensive a regular worskation running even one of these can go up to 2k CAD. This Mac has 2 running. Im sorry, but i still don't understand why you're going crazy over this? everything sounds fine to me. 500 a CPU.. 500 for mobo, mac apps... i nearly got it right.. just nearly =(
actually my next build will be on the dual Xeons at home, no point to have a quad core when everyone has it...i was the first one in my friends to jump on the quad core and in the end, is only worth $400 brand new for Q8400 complete PC setup in the recent boxing day sale
