Ermm I personally don't use any anti-virus software....
But I see my sister uses Kaspersky.. But I'm not too sure if it's good or not..
My BF uses Avast (the spyware thing) for free... but you can upgrade that I think...

Kaspersky is probably the best of the lot, but you have to pay for it. Avast is free, but is nowhere as good. The idea also is, to get into habits of safe hex and stick with it; avoiding executables from anyone else, or quarantining before use, or executing first on dummy machines; avoiding those kind of web sites or links (you know the kind, ie porn); and limiting the number of people who can use your machine to only yourself.

Even so, there is no 100% foolproof way to avoid computer infection, unless you consider turning it off forever as an antiviral strategy. The best that you can do is to get the most effective software, and combine it with the smartest habits (like using a firewall and router).

    Good luck.

And note to BBGirlsum, just download a trial version of Kaspersky AV, and let it do a full scan of your systems. I'm sure the results will be very illuminating. :ohnoes:

    eset or kaspersky...hands down.

  6. get trial version of kaspersky then at the end of 30 days u can use this trick to reset it

    disable self-defense
    exit kaspersky

    open registry
    navigate to hklm\software\kapserskyLab\protected\avp9\environment\pcid

in pcid change last three digits

  7. i use nod32, it uses less resources than kaspersky but no harm in trialing them both. i also use webroot spysweeper for spyware and the win7 firewall.

but tbh BitDefender may be better than kaspersky and nod32

I use Symantec Endpoint Protection since it's lightweight and does not expire, but that's usually for corporate / business environments.

The consumer Symantec (aka Norton) products are crap, at least the last time I experienced one.

Yeah... this would probably be the last time I try having a conversation with you...

  17. im not sure how the firewall is on vista and xp, but imo win7 firewall is decent (they may all be the same for all i know), if your not sure about your firewall then nod32 smart security would be better, if you have a decent firewall then the nod32 antivirus alone is enough.
