Bills & Virgin Media

Being perfectly honest, I am not the best person with bills... sometimes I pay instantly because I have money in my account or when I don't have money in my account and the payment gets reversed, I stack up my bills.

However the difference to my unorganised attitude to this is that I read every letter that I have and remember what letters that I have received as I keep hold of the bills which I did not pay to keep myself informed how much I have been paid. Actually I keep all my bills but I put them in paid and unpaid folders haha.

One day out of the blue I received a debt collectors letter saying that I owed £126.84. I was looking all through my bills of Virgin Media when I had then on national line and currently changed to cable. I looked at both services which I had and have and nothing says that I haven't paid.
The first time I called the customer services up I told them about both of my account and told them that I never received any formal written warning from VM. The person who I was on the phone to said that I have nothing owed to VM so I should ignore it, because I wanted to be safe I asked for a supervisor which I hoped was an English person speaking, however not... to back up on his words and she said the same thing too.

Ok.. approximately 2 weeks have passed and I have got my 2nd one today and this time it was red lawl. Not only was I already in a bad mood that I will know that I will end up missing this lecture that I have to attend coz it's based on attendance because of British Gas having to check out the boiler... but Landlord did come round so I could have asked him to stay and shut the gate for me until he brought up my letters and found that stupid debt collection one.

I rang VM back up and yet again it's the Indians answered again, I mean before this current services, the pass 2 services I had were perfectly speaking Scotish or Northern English people who I understand and they understood me perfectly!!!
OK back to the original rant.. This woman was a lot more understanding on what I said and I said everything that I told the other person in the first call. This time I was adement that I didn't want any more letters like these to be received so she had to call up the debt collectors on my behalf to stop them coming. Next thing I know I got a call transfer to them and luckily it's all sorted, it's been recalled...

I mean at first I didn't believe m friends that VM was a pile of wank due to my personal experience has been OK and satisfactory and no problems with it at all. Now come to think of it, I know why now... Their stupid administration is full of BS.
Not only the customer services, I have 10mb broadband and yes we know that we get capped if we download but our internet speed had gone down all of a sudden and I once rang them back up because we had no connection at all, so I rang them back up with a mobile phone (coz then I didn't get a house phone, which now I have after this experience) and was held in the queue for half hour and it started working just as they picked up the phone.. ARGH the bill for the mobile phone was too high hence we got a house phone in the end....

Not only that, their National call product too. It's basically ADSL/phone line broadband which you will never ever get connection from! I think I must have made a rant about this before where my boyfriend and I had to call up everyday to get the internet sorted.. Luckily now we are on cable..

Fuck I'm soo gonna get a bollocking from my lecturer for this as I have missed 3 seminars and lectures in a row because of bills and landlord issues. ARGH!!!

WTF was your bf doing? Shouldn't he help you deal with some of these craps??

HOH doesn't mean you gotta do everything .. gotta know when to delegate the tasks man .. you should take some management classes cuz if you can't even handle your school stuffs and "simple" life now .. you'll be in deep water when you start working in the real world and have kids.

  3. VM are awesome but a pain if you forget to pay bills.

im bak, yeah VM is the best, it had dum caps at different times during the day but if you have XL package then there are no caps but forget that, 10Mb is enough, but its faster then BT for sure.

oh and pay yer bills or be prepared to talk to people in India

lol i don't do all the phone calls, most of the complains are being made by my BF but because he's not hte account holder I have to be the one to verify and tell the customer service that I give permission for him to talk then he takes it on from there but usually when it comes to money situations I have to be the one dealing with it coz I'm at better money management for him.

And my BF does the house chores like cleaning, washing etc and we share the cooking. I usually do the house chores when I'm bored and have nothing to do... but then it still ends up in a tip coz I always throw things around when I'm doing my uni work hahaa...

What I'm ranting about is the £126.84 came out from no-where and the fact that I was told to ignore the debt collection letter the first time, I expected them to have told the debt collection company to stop sending me letters but noooo they sent it again to make me phoen up again to get out of it!

I do pay my bills... usually pay them no problem through the phone whether Indian or not... Just when it comes to admin stuff they just take the piss

yea virgin media don't have the best of admin services. but then again nor do a lot of companies. many companies base their call centres in india and those type of countries because it is cheaper for them. but i think virgin's broadband service itself is pretty good i think. sometimes u do get the random disconnection but u get that with most providers. not every provider is going to be working all the time. mechanical faults do happen. usually they are fixed very quickly. at most a day and a bit i would think. if after then it's still not working them u call them.

but yea i'm surprised that u do everything in the house. don't u live with other housemates or flatmates. usually u share with quite a few people.

i just rent a flat with my bf but because the account is under my name, my bf never gets to talk to virgin without me giving the information etc

but what i'm more annoyed with about virgin media is that they didn't send me any warning letters when i clearly stated to them i have moved address and overcharged me by double.
luckily i got the disconnection fee off so i only had to pay half and the actual amount that i do owe
it turned out the money that i owed was from my old account apparently i never paid for when i knew i have but i couldn't be arsed and paid for it because i was ill and stressed me out too much especially i lost my part time job at uni which didnt help finance wise
