Wonder Twins Head For High School Aged Nine

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by master_g, Mar 1, 2010.

  1. Two nine year olds known as the Wonder Twins for their record-beating exam results are set to become the youngest pupils admitted to a British secondary school.

Paula and Peter Imafidon, from Waltham Forest, London, amazed parents and teachers when they passed an A-level maths exam at the age of seven. The twins have been waiting to find out which secondary school they will attend, along with thousands of other youngsters - who are two years older - across the country. Peter and Paula, who attend a state primary in London, were helped by their three older brothers and sisters, all of whom were also child prodigies.

Their father Chris said he was thrilled by his childen's achievements at school. He denied any particular genius in the family, crediting their success to the Excellence in Education programme for inner city children from disadvantaged backgrounds. "Every child is a genius," he said. "Once you identify the talent of a child and put them in the environment that will nurture that talent then the sky is the limit. "Look at Tiger Woods, or the Williams sisters - they were nurtured. "You can never rule anything out with them, the competition between the two of them makes them excel in anything they do.

"They are forever competing and fighting, even if it's just for the remote control or the computer." Paula hopes to become a maths teacher, while Peter hopes to become Prime Minister one day.

I'd hate to be them... not really a normal childhood they are having tbh...
I would rather be happily be in primary school being a dumbass and so carefree and not worry about exams

  4. ^ seriously..... the pressure of failure is overwhelming for a child at that age... only a matter of time before they crack.

  5. maybe they would hate to be you.. being a 'dumbass' may not be appealing to them :p gota look at it from both points of view though.

There isnt really anything left for them to fail, they already passed A-level maths 2 years ago and are going to secondary school which is GCSE level so its not like school is going to stump them. If they were being pushed into doing degrees then i would have to agree. all they have to do now is prepare for their other A-levels and go uni, providing nobody drags them down.

That's good .. I do agree that they gonna miss the regular childhood when they grow older but you know what .. that's life. there are always sacrifices and regrets .. can't have everything.

When I was seven .. hmm .. food hunting near the waterfall.

AMAZING. Hope they survive all the emotional stuff that comes in secondary school. Their classmates may not be so amazed at their talent being jealous and all that. Wish them all the best.

I feel so bad for them, gettting all the attention so young, they are going to regret it when they grow older
