Win 7-Broken

Hey .. do ya'll think MS will replace my broken Win 7 or I have to buy another copy? I can't go back to the store since I got it way back last year when it was released.

software isn't something that's breakable lol misconfigured, yes, but not breakable lol unless it's the CD....

 

All you need is your key, i can only assume you mean the disk is broken. cant u download a copy of win7 and use your legit key?

 

just torrent or dl a copy of the cd, if the cd is broken...
but never heard of a broken OS before... -ohmy

 

vista is pretty broken imo, but that's an exception. so is windows ME.

Retail implies its the same as the one you would buy at the store. After installing it you get 30 days to activate or just use a bootloader.

 

in other words, an ISO is of sorts, a virtual CD.

You download it as if you would down load any other software, you click setup, you're good to go.

there is no need to burn it to a CD (unless you want to back it up).

I suggest you burn it to CD/DVD though instead of mounting the iso into a virtual drive. When the shit hits the fan, I am sure you are better off booting from the CD/DVD and reinstalling your Windows. With a broken OS, virtual drives are useless.

I am not sure where your confusion lies, but your Win7 CD/DVD is not linked to you registration key. They are two seperate things, so it should not matter where you get your Win7 CD/DVD from. The only problem I can think of is that you have an MSDN or OEM key which might not work on retail versions (not sure if this has changed in Win7). If this does not make sense, then you probably have a retail version.
