Source: Channel News Asia Image: On.cc Tony Leung's surgery causes further delays in 'Grand Master' HONG KONG: Hong Kong actor Tony Leung is preparing to undergo surgery after doctors found that his old arm injury was not healing properly. The 47-year-old actor broke a bone in his left arm in an accident during a martial arts practice session for martial arts film "The Grand Master" in July last year. Leung's surgery will delay shooting of "The Grand Master" yet again. "The Grand Master", Hong Kong director Wong Kar Wai's film about Bruce Lee's martial arts teacher Ip Man, has been beset by a whole host of complications since its inception in 2002. In 2004, Leung, who plays Ip Man, was slated to begin martial arts training for his role in the film. However, Leung suffered a ski injury and had to rest for six months, causing filming for "The Grand Master" to be pushed back. In 2006, Wong became busy with "My Blueberry Nights" while Leung had no time to do "The Grand Master" as he was involved in "Lust, Caution" and "Red Cliff", leading to further delays. Over the past few months, Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi, who plays the female lead in the film, became embroiled in a number of high-profile scandals. This forced the production team to spend time adjusting Zhang's involvement in the film. After finally getting a permit from the provincial government to shoot in Guangdong, China, filming was recently delayed again by exceptionally bad weather. Plagued by mishaps and delays, Wong was beaten to the punch by Hong Kong producer Raymond Wong, who released the similarly themed film "Ip Man" in 2008. Following the box office success of the first film, the sequel "Ip Man 2" will be released later this year, while Wong continues to struggle to complete "The Grand Master".

I don't think Wong Ka Wai is struggling with Grand Master Ip Man, he's known to just make up shit on the spot and change things around.
Grand master and Ip man 2 are two different movies and I read Song Hye Kyo will be in the Grand master movie as well. Tony Leung broke his arm filming Grand master so it might be delayed. But both movies should be good but I just don't know if Tony can play a martial artist well enough.
Guess not, Tony couldn't compare to Donnie Yen in anyway ( about real kung fu)... BTW, why not find a real martial artist, but instead find a noob martial art for a potential movie... You know...broke arm just to film the movie...ect ...
well thats because real kung fu masters cant act that great ... overall its the film ... not whether they are skilled enough at the self defense department
Well, I believe Donnie Yen can act... and you rather find someone can do real kung while acting or find someone trying to act both kung fu and acting ? As you can see, the movie is delayed because Tony 's broke his arm ? Why make thing difficult, understand what i mean?
