^ what are those programs about? i have my OS on a 500gig HDD so it shouldn't be bad, why do i have to use those programs though?
I have Windows 7 64bit on my Revo and its very good. It uses almost 1/3 less system resources than my Vista 32 bit. My main desktop is Windows Vista 32 bit and i will be keeping this operating system indefinitely. I have too much stuff on my main hard drive to organize and move to an external in order to do a wipe and an upgrade. That said, i am looking forward to a Vista SP3 which hopefully will increase performance levels closer to Windows 7 levels. My main PC is just a gaming system anyway, and Vista is fine for games.
correct me if im wrong, but i thought vista and win7 upgrades store your data in a "windows.old" folder before the upgrade? even if it says it's wiping your hard drive, it stores it in that folder...
thats why im glad i got multiple HDD's, i dont store stuff on the HDD with the OS except installations, so everything carries over if i need to change OS or format
yea i'm using 64 bit windows. seems fine to me. no problems so far. the only different programs u need to use is just the antivirus as that has to be compatible with 64 bit and drivers. everything else works fine even if it's 32 bit. it will just install in a different program files folder.
Yeah... now i have 6 TB of storage in multiple hard drives. Nothing like having easily mobile data. it does. but its still a hassle lol. I'll upgrade to Windows 8 when i build myself a computer from scratch and spend the time to get all my crap organized at that point.
ah one thing i noticed which was kind of nice for a low power system like my Revo with 64 bit is Windows Media player 64 bit. I noticed that i was getting some lag in some 1080P HD videos in the regular windows media player. I switched over to the 64 bit version and the lag was gone. This might be because of better software archetecture of the basic WMP program, or it might be due to better 64 bit codecs, iunno. However after that experience I am definitely under the impression that 64 bit apps are better.
im using 64 bit and i havent got any problem with any programs yet. you shouldn't anyway beccause windows has a 32bit mode to run programs that doesnt run on 64bit. the only problem i have is finding driver for one wireless card. its a very old one. so the they dont support it anyway so yeah.
well... it has 2 times the number of addressing registers = more throughput -ohmy lol My new desktop handles apps awesomely... haven't seen my cpu usage over 30% while playing Battlefield Bad Company 2 Fullscreen 1920X1080 res @ 59hz and also got a video play on the other monitor.... LOL
as long as you have all your 64-bit driver for your peripheral then go for 64-bit. Not all legacy devices has 64bit driver.
