Use Windows 7 For 120 Days Without Activating

Discussion in 'Science, Technology & Car Chat' started by master_g, Mar 8, 2010.

  1. Here is a way by which anyone can use Windows 7 for 120 days without activating it. When your trial period of first 30 days is almost over (it should not get over otherwise this method will not work. So make sure you do it on the last day of the trial), do the following:

    1. Click Start (The Windows Vob on the bottom left of the screen)
    2. In the start search, type cmd and press Ctrl-Shift-Enter. This will open Command Prompt in administrative mode.
    3. Now type the following command:
      slmgr –rearm
    4. Now restart Windows
    5. When Windows starts, go to the Computer properties and you’ll see the the activation grace time has been reset to 30 days.

This method can be repeated 3 times. So it becomes a total of 120 days in total if we repeat this process on every 30th day of grace period.
So in this way you can test and use Windows 7 for an extended period. After that you can make a purchase.

here are the minimum requirements. as long as you meet these, you should be fine, though you might need to upgrade your RAM a bit.

If you're going to use it for up to 120 days, wouldn't it be easier to just go buy the OS? They've got student discounts now which is at a reasonable price

google it and u can find a crack on it

  8. yeah, buy it after 120 days :D until then you can use OS money on something else, like SSFIV.

i personally don't do cracked/stolen software. but i am aware of it, same to you zouter, this thread is for those who intend in buying it, this is just a legal way of prolonging the trial to 4 months in case a person needs to save up or something.

just run the windows 7 compatibility test

    running the test: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...90-7659-4BD9-9E51-2497C146AF15&displaylang=en
    check hardware list: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx

because u might not get security updates
and when msft decides to put a patch onto those xp system back then it will popup saying your have a illegal software and will restart ur pc every couple of hours...

    Windows 7 PRO @ $40 (Expired Jan 5) // New Price @ $95 - PA - Entertainment Destination

are you (guys) really that cheap?, game is only $50 or less
u could have saved up more by going less for starbucks drinks, clubbing, etc -lol

^ not about being cheap .. just that we read win 8 is in the process of development when ppl are barely getting to win 7 .. not sure if it's worth the investment. for students .. all they really need (except eng students) are ms words, excel, and pp so xp or vista or win 7 doesn't matter much.

well is just like a CPU, new CPUs get into the market every 18 months
when Win8 comes out then the announcement of Win9 will be out in another 2 yrs and basically the process cycles...many students don't just take language, many are taking engineering, art, computer science courses, they don't just use ms office apps...and more apps are moving towards supporting the latest OSes

  13. i can use the trial for 4 months, see how close we are to win8, if its on the horizon ill just reinstall win7 and use it another 4 months and buy win8, its not about being cheap, its about being prudent (Y) :D

its all good for me cus i store my OS on a separate HDD to my files and stuff.

also win9 will be after 2012 so....... hehe

imo just use this, after the 4 month trial just format your HDD and re-install for another 4 month trial, then buy win8, or if you dont mind reinstalling your OS 3 times a year which aint that bad then you got win7 for free
