ooo nice nice....... can't wait to see the final product so yea, now that i have my i7, i can't use it to it's full potential, since i can't think of anything intensive to run on it -_________- actually, let me rephrase that, im too lazy to run intensive shit on it. most of the time i play games on it and shit, which i can do with a dual core.......... FUUUUUUUUUUUCK WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY T_________T
Just run Vista lol. I don't think they've really fixed that thing where it uses up 100% CPU usage for no reason.
buddy of mines run his i7 with with about 3-4 vpcs-64bit environment-heavy requirements and the thing just chugs along no glitches.
lol yea, i have no doubt the i7, with enough memory and spec, is capable of handling them. the thing is, im not sure what to use those vms for lol my colleague got like 5 pcs, made a cloud, and hosted vms on them LOL im just trying to figure out what he's gonna use them for lol
Aye-The hardest part is use. A few projects I've passed on that make use of vpcs: -Windows Homer Server -Exchange Server -NAS-running something like FreeNas -Win 2k8 Local Domain Environment Coming soon, Project Black Beauty
just waiting on a super extreme price for a SSD and then i definitely would be running a dedicated OS off of it..... i almost paid like $90 (?) for a 30GB ssd...... but eventually i held myself back.
I was thinking to Raid 0 my hdd's but instead running a dedicated OS off a hdd and using the other to store all download data seemed to make it less necessary....
Raid 0 would just have been for speed upgrades. (it provides no redundancy-so separating the drives works for you) Optimal-for my situation-Raid 5.
raid 5, given your criteria, i assume you have like four 1TB drives? i have 1.5TB... and I have yet to fill it up..... but once i do... ill just double it with one 1.5TB drive if SSD aren't an inexpensive route.
Phase I of the The Black Beauty: Missed this. 150 velo raps (x3) in a raid 5. Primary and OS. Storage:SAN To come:Raid 5:Intel 80GB X25's SSD (x3)..etc..
