Could be anything; heat, application fault, memory or (as mentioned) board fault. In general, if it happens with enough regularity, then it's a bad sign that something needs to be replaced.

Look for the simplest things first and then go up the list in a process of elimination. Tracking down these problems can be a real pain sometimes.

yea it depends on how it restarts. if it restarts without blue screen of death then it could be to do with heat. i know that i've had my pc restart before cos it was too hot and the system couldn't cool it down. but usually that won't happen a lot cos when it happened to me i was gaming and it was for a long time. if it happens regurlarly it is a bad sign that something is going wrong.

if its BSoD its mostly hardware issues, if it just restarts with nothing could be over heating. maybe you keep the case open to let more air out.

is not hard to find out the problem, if you have more than 1 stick of ram, then take one out and see if it will still restart, certain apps reaches certain memory block might crash...but if you insist in just buying a replacement,
heck, you need not to post here...LOL

what computers are you using? i ran my Q6600 with the same hardware 24/7 90% of the time for the past 3 yrs and is still running fine...XD
