Iphone firmware

does anyone know where i would be able to download IPhone 3GS 3.1.2 firmware?
on youtube and other sites they all show this site

but the bad thing is it comes up as zip file and when i use winrar to un rar it, it does not give me the .ipsw file....
does anyone know the solution for this?

you should be able to automatically update it via itunes.. why do you need to manually update it?

^yep i just got a Iphone 3gs and its already on the newest firmware 3.1.3,
but i wanna downgrade it to 3.1.2 so that i can jail break it...

 

heard 3GS JB-ing is a bit of a challenge? True?

 

^ yes it is cos the 3.1.3 puts your baseband to 05.12.01 and once you have that your screwed...
unless u have the old boot base band then your fine...

 

Have u tried using firefox to download it? also.. i think you can just change the extension name to .ipsw (but not too sure)

And.. im not too sure, but downgrading it is quite tricky.. cos itunes wont let u downgrade even with a shift restore - u have to bypass it

 

^just tried that never worked, guess i gotta wait for hackers to release a new program that can help me jail break it.....

 

it'll be a waiting game .. cos they teams JBing it probably wont release anything until apple release a newer fw.. they dont want apple to cover the JB loophole

 

there is actually a program called 'sn0wbreeze-V1.5.2' which does happen to jailbreak the new firmware 3.1.3, However your Iphone has to be previously hacked in order for it to work...

I just got my iphone and has't ever been hacked b4 so i gotta wait for some other hackers to release their versions...
