I am currently working on a animation script (nothing too big...yet) Where the characters will be from different parts of the world and of course with different languages all wrapped in. The Intro starts out with a old Chinese tale i made to involved one of the main characters which i choose to be in mandarin. Then after writing out the time line and story boards, i realize that I'll be needing help with some translation. So i picked up 2 programs from Fry's. Penpower Chinese Expert and MultiTranse. Using Multitranse to translate some dialog from english to chinese then using penpower to change the characters and show them in pinyin for the voice actors to speak and thanks to penpower chinese expert correction speaking system it'll give the actor time to say the word correctly. But as i see how i written the script in english and translated it in chinese how the words change a bit and wondering if i wasted 100 bucks. As you can see in step one i use multitranse to translate english to chinese, then step 2 i use penpower chinese expert to translate and prepare to change to pinyin. At step 2 is where i see my words get changed a bit. Hope you guys can give me your take on this? Weather this is ok? Whether I should continue to work on the project that I spent 2 years on already. But other opens are alright, and oh to note. I'm low on a budget.
just to let you know.. translation programs wont give you 100% translation with proper grammar. They're just to get a gist of what the text mean. It's ok if you translate a word or two to understand its meaning.
Agreed. There's no way a piece of software can accurately translate from language to another. Hell, there's even cases of loss of meaning in translation by a human being. Your best bet is to either translate it yourself or have someone translate it for you to ensure accuracy.
what do u mean in step 2 ur character changed? the sentence in English def changed, a failed one too. Translation on 1st file is correct. I would suggest human proofread, like other said already, machine it's not 100% guaranteed. the pinyin is definitely correct using Penpower, just not the translation itself don't think you should just give up on this, if it's not too long, you can ask people to help you proofread and ensure accuracy. you spent some time on this already, don't give up, believe it!
Thanks you guys, took a little tweaking but i changed the format of the animation. I'll be translating it myself the best i can then once i get more funding, I'll hire someone to double check my work.
