Hi All, I am going for a three weeks to Hong Kong and will also be heading out to Tokyo, Japan for a week in Dec 2010. Can anyone recommend activities or places to visit? I have booked my flight to Hong Kong but need to find flights from Hong Kong to Tokyo. Does anyone have recommendations for Hong Kong hotels, Tokyo Hotels and flights to Tokyo? I have been to Hong Kong before but will be my first time in Tokyo. Thanks, Tommy
It's cheaper if you book hotel and plane tickets from HK to Japan in HK, you need to go to travel agency, It seems unlogical for western people that booking ticket and hotel at Agency is cheaper.. but that is just the case in HK =P I've been in Tokyo.. but only for 2 days, and i was with a tour.. So didnt saw that much Its a must to try all kinds of food in Japan.. and if your really rich you can do shopping and stuff.. but have to warn you.. everything in Japan is "expensive" (if you compare with HK, shopping for clothes is as much as in western countries) , especially if you want to try the popular japanese quality food like kobe beef and sashimi...
^ thats actually some good advice... cause i was definitely planning on going on a month long vacation to HK and Japan sometime within the next few years XD
prepare to save A LOT of money hahahah =P Hotels in Japan is just freaking expensive... and also the case with travel.. I've heared that if you go with a taxi you also need to pay the return way for the taxi itself from where you start off xD it costed me 1k euro p/p with a tour for 10 days in Japan.. and i havent even included the cost for the food that you want to eat over there.. Like our tour guide says, the food that comes with the package is just enough "to survive". Even more reason to just go with friends instead of a tour, the advantage is that we have seen a lot of places in 10 days time and also you won't have any headache for asking directions or other stuff since 95% of the people barely speak English and the 5% must be tourist =P
wow you're planning ahead. im going to japan for 6 days and its already 1000+ CAD with a tour..its better to visit a bunch of places because staying in tokyo during your whole visit is such a waste thats why a tour is a good option is you haven't been to japan....im also going to korea which is so much cheaper than japan.
I like Shangri-La in HK more than the other places; but not sure it's within your price range. I have never been and am forbidden (sorta speak) to visit Japan so can't help you there. If you go to Korea, then yeah .. I can help you with a lot more .. lol
True but take in mind Dec 2010 is PEAK SEASON in HK and flights to anywhere to Japan is very popular which means it will be fairly expensive. Food wise, HK has great Jap food for a much lower price.
Yea but evo... because it's peak season it would mean that even if you book it in the USA(?) it would still be expensive xD It is cheaper to book it from travel agency... And in HK you can really get good Japanese sushi <3 atleast if you compare it with the Netherlands =.=
Hi all, Thanks for all the comments. As mentioned in one of the posts staying in Hong Kong for 3 weeks and ` weke in Tokyo will be expensive and that's just for flights and hotel accommodation. Still planning at the moment have found a hotel in Tokyo business district near British Embassy so place is pretty safe and it's near a train station. However, it requires knowledge of Tokyo underground as need to change a few trains as not on a main line. Price is about £60 per night which seems ok for Tokyo. Hotel accomodation will be staying in a Shatin and hotel offers a free shuttle bus to Tsim Tsa Tsui. Anyway, thinking about stopping at Shanghai for a few days before going on to Tokyo. Thanks, Tommy
Royal Park Hotel Shatin? That a pretty good hotel and the shopping centre just below it (New Town Plaza) is HUUUUUUUUUGE!
when i was in Japan for 5 days 2 years ago.. i lived in the city Shinjuku. It's a really nice place.. but really crowed. The hotel i stayed at was Prince Shinjuku hotel. Apparently its only a 3 star hotel.. but i think its really neat. I think an episode of Super Trio was filmed at that hotel. Anyways.. the toilets are soo cool at the hotel
