Its the end of days machine. I should have snapped a pic of the RAM kits when they came in. More to come.
It's got about 25 virtual images running on there. More to be added soon.

  4. what do you need 25 vms for? app servers? databases? shiiiiiiit

all of the above + clusters (sql etc) etc etc
Hyper V is a beautiful thing.

  6. yea dude... i know a colleague who ordered a bunch of old ibm workstations, clouded them to host a few bms for the same purpose............. once i finish ibm shit, im probably going to do the same, only on a lesser scale... lol

Right on. Quite a few DIY guides out there.
Currently working on a SAN. I'll update as as i go along.
To many projects in the works.
-Get rid of the Antec 300 and possible look at the Fractal Define R2
-Work out Logistics of Air Flow in the 800D
    -As mentioned, SAN
-Distributed File System with replication between my Servers
    -Home made Nas Raid Enclosure
    Etc.

  8. good stuff.

cloud computing is one of the projects in my department.. but i'm taking it to a smaller scale and beef my i7 with more ram, and using it to host like 4 vms........ imma use IBM DB2 for db (because i can get it for free lol), Websphere app server too for that matter... or i might just opt for tomcat............. but it's just going to be used to host a couple of home automation web services i have in mind... nothing too big

    thank god for hyper-v indeed.

Your best bet for vm's on a "standard home" pc would be to utilize MS Virtual PC. Though i recall you mentioning that before.
Or using a student email at https://www.dreamspark.com/ to snatch a fully/free licensed Server 08 (Hyper V being a role you can add only on a server os)

  10. yea i'm aware of that.. my copy of win server 08 R2 is ready to go... all the components i need to get this project up and running is ready, i just need to get off my lazy ass and get it done lol

So you don't want to wall mount or a desk mount?

Not sure if they worked out the air mount yet.

I believe they have a floor mount which is basically a pole.

Are you planning on having all your screens side by side? If so then yeah, you don't need mounts.

Thats the thing i dunno. I dunno if too much is just a 'cool' factor. I mean it'd be nice, but I think 2-3 would be good enough?

then start measuring monitors and your desk,

  19. alright so I'm running 32bit win7 and I got 4gigs of ram. But since 32bits only use 3 should I just pull the other one out? I feel like the ram isn't running efficiently. I have two sticks of standard ram, and then I have two sticks of crucial ballistics
