Okay ... I am just curious if y'all have this problem at home.

My wife and I clean our house practically everyday but we just don't know why dust filled everywhere the very next day. We bought an air purifier but still .. not good enough. We thought it was the central heating system so we sealed it off and not use it at all. Our windows are closed; not open everyday but still .. dust's everywhere .. I don't mean a little .. it enough to be visible from a far. I seriously don't know where it comes from and it's annoying and frustrating. Even the computer screen has to be wipe EVERYDAY.

This house is in an excellent neighborhood and there's no new construction or factory or whatever company within close proximity .. even our chimney is capped off top. Sigh ..

  2. well carpet, pets, anything fabric releases dust particles when disturbed.... and people.... dust is made up of a lot of dead skin cells produced by humans.....

  3. Like Akki said, carpet is a main factor.

However, In my household, we actually buy air vent filters, cut them to size, and place them behind every vent hole in your house. Like these:

The majority of the dust comes from your air circulation system, and by filtering the vents in your house, you will prevent a certain amount.

However, this will not completely eliminate dust from your house hold... Dust can easily get in every time you walk into your house... dust and dirt get stuck in the bottom of your pants, and get dragged throughout the house.. This is pretty inevitable, and there's really no way to completely sterilize your house, without continuous cleaning.

I learned this the hard way... my fucking room gets dust everywhere, and it pisses me off too lol

P.S.: oh, and electronics love to attract dust too. So anywhere near a TV, computer or gaming console, you'll have lots of lovely dust.

Carpets are the major one, cause my room is dusty as hell in just a week. Also consider all those clothes around you, dead skin and all. There are so many stuff that can be the cause, even your home itself, a combination of stuffs. Dust is pretty much everywhere.

@Dan .. yup .. the most visible place is the electronic area .. it's like a dust magnet.

i don't have carpet at home so that's not one of them. i was thinking it's the paint but doesn't seem like the case too

    old house?

vents ... not just from central a/c or heater. dryer vents, bathrooms vents comes to mind, attic.

They do have professionals that you can hire to clean your vents; don't have to close up central a/c considering it's almost summer now.

  7. like ab said.. it's definitely your air circulation system, and anything that moves air.

  8. I got a dust problem too.. mainly my glass desk and tv.. then again.. i got a lot of stuff cluttered everywhere..

    This.

Also, carpets can contain up to 100,000 dust mites per square yard. Those dust mites produce 200 times their body weight in fecal matter over their lifetime. Vacuuming is key. You might also want to consider renting a steam cleaner machine or having your carpets professionally steam cleaned. Make sure that any company doing this for you is using unscented detergents.

One thing to know with dust mites is that they prefer to live at humidity levels above 60%. If you are in an area of high humidity you're going to have more dust. Conversely, low humidity would result in more skin shedding, which also contributes to dust... If you in a very high humidity area you might want to consider a dehumidifier in something like your living room.
