WOW to mandate real user names on forums?

If Popular Asian's Forums required you to post under your real name, you would

  1. Have no problem what so ever, cheer the decision and continue to comment as you've done before

    1 vote(s)
    25.0%
  2. be reluctant to post except for the most important discussions

    1 vote(s)
    25.0%
  3. not post anything, but continue to read and download

    1 vote(s)
    25.0%
  4. quit the site altogether. Your privacy is too important.

It sounds so simple, to require forum users to sign in with their real first and last names; but is it realistic?:

Note: this is not the World of Warcraft game itself, but the discussion forums where people go to talk and discuss the game.

imo i think that would serve a problem on wow as personas are created on gaming discussions to up themselves and that e.g brag and boast about what they have and that they could own them or whatever but if pa did it i think nothing would change part from calling each other by our real name ... which some members already do anyway so it really doesn't make a difference and we have all pa member thing on facebook ... soooo i think everyone knows what most memebrs look like ....

People with unique names would probably have a much harder time accepting this. I think Blizzard is at fault here. They should try to find another solution to lower the amount of trolling and flame wars without having to risk the privacy and safety of their customers.

It's true that a number of members know my real name and I know a number of other people's real names, but it was my choice to reveal it to certain individuals. If PA required me to use my real name as my user ID, I would probably just become a leecher or delete my account.

There are a lot of creepy people on the internet. Not to mention the people who go crazy over online arguments.

Only shows if you post on their forums, and it's optional to show your account/username with the name.

    But it's still bad.

HA! Blizzard Blinked. They decided to back down from the plan after a deluge of complaints, LOL...

    Lame...

A lot of it was also Activision's push to try and get them to do that too.
