Woo getting a DSLR. I'm proud of you. I'm not too familiar with Nikon but I'm sure our resident Nikon guru, Tisken, can help you out. In the world of Canon, a 50mm lens is a must have.
I find it odd to even use anything as large as an "SLR" nowadays. IMHO, unless there is a pressing need to change lenses, I can't see justifying the added expense and logistics of the extra carry weight. But... that's just me.
I would say the Nikon D300 since it has more advance feature edit: but then, if the D90 cost less, I'll say the D90. Most of it is similar, just having slightly different autofocus and ISO.
i must agree with ralph.. for daily life, i don't even use my Canon A570 point and shoot.... my nexus one camera fills the role of the daily life camera.... i only need something to quickly snap candid photos.. but in the case that i do need more quality photos, i got my old school film slr, the Nikon FG -cool2
oh I have a film slr! but its not working.. -_- and im taking a photography class soon so i need a camera. hence the dslr plus. I've wanted one for years. i've thought about it alot and i would prefer a dslr hence why i'm leaning towards the d90 since it is more compact and fits to my hand better..
Since this is the Camera thread. Im looking at the NEX5 the latest song family. i had my eyes on it since it came out in end of july... as i bought the H55 sony cybershot as the nex5 was not out yet as i needed a cam for holiday.... so what you think of the NEX5 guys give me some feedback and bad and good things. thanks...
if you are going to take lots of photos get the one with more features because the entry levels will drop down in prices quick...mid-range models are okay and slightly future proof, Pro series are even more future proof when new replacement model doesn't come out in the market in a couple of years after using my xsi a year (13K photos taken), and tried out the 7D or the 5DMK2, i feel in love with them already, they are not only faster but actually clearer on the pictures =0 if i was given another chance, i wouldn't get xsi to begin with
D90 is good if ur starting into dslr. If u aim to go more advance in future, its better to get D300. For Dslr user, we dont upgrade body often, usually lens. Lens, u can go for either portrait lens, landscape lens, tele lens.
not really because the body has more features...if u start at entry level, then u will switch to others very soon...if you already have pro line of course u don't change often...like - lower & higher ISOes, entry level models start only at 100-1600? (my xsi has this) - cropped frame and full frame - faster burst rates per second - weather sealing - larger MP - support of larger memory cards, SDHC max at 32GB @ 30MB/s, CF max at 64GB @ 90MB/s plus get a higher quality and for mid-level tripod, since then u dont' have to spend more money later down the road; my photo buddies use Benro brand, i have tried them, they are light but sturdy...and get tripods with a screw type locks for the legs...
