Those complaints had played some huge roles in Super Trio, they changed many games or canceled them cause of it. Is it really that bad. How is advertising your own movie a problem. Who's the idiots that are sitting at those seats on the Broadcasting Authority. ATV was talking about these issues with TVB being fine and stuff, I thought it was stupid. It's another reason why not a lot of good shows are coming out of HK TV. Nobody is going to risk going something new and challenging if this keeps up.
I suspect it's because of a conflict of interest. If TVB didn't own the station, then it wouldn't matter. For example, here in the US, Time Warner owns the cable line that I use. If TW decided to provide free advertising for it's shows during one of its other shows, but not for the shows of competitors, then the the playing field is not level, and is considered unfair competition. TW would either have to stop advertising its other shows, or else give away the equal advertising time to any competitors. In this case of TVB, it was causing an unfair advantage over rival ATV. Hence, even if you own the station, or especially because you own the station, you must give all competing shows, including your own, the same considerations; nothing more and nothing less. I'm assuming that TVB is functioning under similar broadcast restrictions though I'm not overly familiar with the telecommunications rules in HK.
