An open source code to DIY a usb hack is released, you just buy a certain USB developers board and download and compile some source codes, then use it the same way as PS jailbreak. Although I think this sounds a bit techie and no guarantee future support. But to be able to play the current batch of game to your hearts content is worth it.-woot2

    Ohhhh!!! It's called PSGroove.

  3. And look at what i predicted might happen! Open source baby!

They're probably gonna patch the console soon and limit the USB access.

my friend modded his ps3 on his own...and is fully hacked that he ripped each game at 20 minutes each and modified the game to play remotely (played infamous via his psp)...the ps3 mod can be preordered at some smaller computer shops for $160

    Yes and no
Reason u can't go is cuz it wants the latest update or it won't let u use psn

re: hacking limited to version of firmware?

3.41, and they're also patching the jailbreak to work on lower versions. So far they [sony] can't detect it
But they put out the new update to patch it, and Psn always requires the latest update

    who needs it anyway?

found out also that u can actually access, via ftp, the filesystem of the game currently in the drive
you can then extra the movies and music from the game and make your own soundtrack without needing to find it online to download
plus they found out today that the backup manager will actually run games off dvd-r and bd-r (SOME games are on dvd-r burned onto bluray discs only)

well probably 80 percent or so of the games on the market have some sort of multiplayer nowadays...online multiplayer that is.-rolleyes But yea if you are fine with single player only games which are pretty rare nowadays, then hack away.

Games like PES 2011 (or Winning Eleven), I can deal with just playing singleplayer :)

But shooting games, like COD.. is kinda more fun if you go online. Though i don't play COD and stuff.

further to ps3 misfortunes, it can also be hacked with a calculator (yes! a calculator... an advanced scientific one costing £80 though), mobile phones and a console emulator handheld running linux.

The virus keeps spreading like resident evil...
