ZOMBIES!!! http://www.amctv.com/originals/The-Walking-Dead/ At last! This is probably one of the most anticipated Sci-fi Horror dramas to have come along in years. The first few episodes were great and promises to fuel audience hunger for continued zombie story lines. Comments, thoughts, critiques? Oh, and BTW, This thread is GUARANTEED TO CONTAIN SPOILERS WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE OR WARNING. One can try to observe netiquette, but it's impossible to control the behavior of others who don't care to observe them. So spoilers are the presumed rule in this thread, even for episodes that have not yet aired... *And a new game for any like minded would be zombie fighter survivalist; with every new entry into this thread, precede your post first with an item that you think would be helpful in a post zombie apocalypse world. Yea. Totally agree with you. Though I had just watched the first episode, now still downloadint the second and third.
One of the things that I really disagree with, Warning: Minor Spoiler Spoiler: as seen in Ep 02... ...is that heightened sense of smell that these zombies have. That's a new wrinkle to zombie canon and I'm not so sure that's appropriate; it makes them seem still too much alive, IMHO. In ep 02, when two of the show's stars navigate through that horde, the zombies act with too much living emotions, showing curiosity and interest in the stars as they walk by. According to zombie lore, they're supposed to be dead, but retain simply a basic drive to eat. That is, they have no higher brain function so technically, nothing (sights or smells) should ever pique their interest so to speak. -madsign1 Also, Warning: Major Spoiler Spoiler: at the end of Ep 03... ...if Merle had access to the hack saw, why didn't he use it on the handcuffs instead? One can make a valid argument that the handcuffs were tempered stainless steel, and thus near impossible to cut through. However, the fixture that he was cuffed to was regular soft ironwork, even a dull hacksaw would not have had problems with that. Further, the zombies didn't get past the door as the chain was still intact when the rescue party got there. So why did Merle feel compelled to cut off his own hand? I guess we'll have to see ep 04 to get a better sense of what happened.
Spoiler lol i noticed the same thing. then again he may just have an iq of 50. im sure they just slapped it in it for the suspense, which is a lame effort.... another lame effort is the creepy forest sex at the beginning of ep2.... if they NEED to have a sex scene, to drop it so early in the series is kinda confusing imo...
True, LOL... another thing is Spoiler: where... ...did he disappear to? I mean, the roof was locked; so he couldn't have walked out. The only other way was over the side. Maybe that big long ladder (seen in ep 02) that was outside the building? I noticed that the survivors have already hit on the fact that it takes head shots to kill the zombie walkers. Hence, it begs a question; if gunshot sounds seem to readily attract them, why aren't they doing more bow and arrow type stuff? In general, this show is also making the US south look really bad. Spoiler: I mean, one is... ...a racist redneck while another is an illiterate wife beater. These are all the negative stereotypes that the south has been fighting to shake off for years...
i read online that FIRST SEASON consists of just six episodes! AMC did confirmed it has renewed for a second season, which will have 13episodes.... i just finished episode 3....cant wait till next sunday.....all day football...sunday night football....dexter & walking dead.....ahhhhhhhhhhh life is good !!! what do u think happened to merle dickson, who cut off his hand just to get out of the roof.... i think he will eventually escape atlanta, and goes back to the campsite and seek revenge on rick & others

ITEM: SOLAR PANEL (*see below) Since this is a drama discussion, I was just wondering why this thread was put in the non Asian Entertainment News section. Is there a rule that the drama discussion forum is for Asian (in particular HK Chinese) dramas only? Well, ep 05 is coming out tonight and I'm waiting with bated breath. As for the events of ep 04, there were really some points of contention that I feel weren't accounted for adequately. If all the survivors are sitting around the campfire, you would expect that... Spoiler ...they should have some sort of early warning system in place, right? I mean, the walkers are not commandos sneaking up on them, but rather pretty stupid and not into stealth or tactics. Just a few empty cans and a few lengths of cord would have provided ample perimeter early warning. I also found it astounding that they didn't have an escape plan already figured out and in place should the camp be attacked. Instead the were nearly overrun. *And a new game for any like minded would be zombie fighter survivalist; with every new entry into this thread, precede your post first with an item that you think would be helpful in a post zombie apocalypse world. ITEM: RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES OK, now that ep 05 has aired, some big changes in the series. I haven't read the comic book series that this was made from, so I don't know if it's faithful to the original story line or not. But, insofar as the story goes, I think it's good thus far. Spoiler: I was surprised that... ...one of the guys got bit and was left behind. Will he later turn into a walker and then come back and appear in a later ep? That would be a nice touch. I also liked what they did with the victim of the wife beater, who gave her deceased husband a few extra whacks, giving even the redneck character pause. The family that decided not to stay with the group and go off on their own is crazy. Given the chances that most people are already dead (like almost everyone in Atlanta) they're going to try to drive to Birmingham, Alabama? That's like 150 miles away, and what do they hope to find once they get there? Their family safe and sound? Statistically speaking, remember that everyone is already likely a walker or had been put down. There are relatively few survivors. If a large city like Atlanta was overrun, then Birmingham, a much smaller city, I doubt would have fared much better IMHO. I find it odd that they would use CB channel 40. Channel 9 (in the US) is the emergency channel and 19 is the unofficial truckers frequency. If anything, they should monitor those two channels instead as other potential survivors would likely do the same. I wonder why they don't strip the bodies of soldiers for guns and ammunition? So in the closing of ep 05, we're introduced to a drunk scientist that would be fit for a loony bin. I wonder why he was so reluctant to let those people in? Also, in general, I find it really odd that these people can go around with blood soaked clothing and not get infected. *And a new game for any like minded would be zombie fighter survivalist; with every new entry into this thread, precede your post first with an item that you think would be helpful in a post zombie apocalypse world. the amount of times, they killed a zombie and their blood spank all over their faces, you would think those people would get infected. The series is coming to an end. Since the ratings have been good, there should be more in the future.
awww bless ralphy for being soo passionate about zombies .... ...... ill play the game Item : A Machete/ Samurai Sword
Spoiler i was fully expecting the sister to jump up and take a huge bite out of her sister. i was disappointed.
ITEM: MRE's LOOK OUT! There's one behind you!!! LOL... Thanks for playing and yes, zombies have been my favorite horror genre since... well, zombies first came out. It's a fascinating what if exploration of how we as human beings would react given the same set of post event circumstance. The idea that we're besieged by monsters that used to be us or people we know is pure genius. Many people don't realize it, but the zombie movies were literally the first of the "survivor" genre. To Dan, yeah... I was sorta expecting the same. But being that she's kind of a main character, in the back of my mind, I didn't think that it would actually happen. My guess is, who are the ancillary, non essential players that would be next? The wife beating victim? Her kid? The black woman? :ugh2: I agree, in the beginning, there was a scene in which the main character goes after a walker with bat and full face shield. Now, it seems like they're at some sort of TGI Friday's* Barbecue Fest. They got sauce all over themselves and no one seems to care. At any rate, a really great show. I hope it continues to be well received. *TGI Friday's is a popular chain of family restaurants in the US *And a new game for any like minded would be zombie fighter survivalist; with every new entry into this thread, precede your post first with an item that you think would be helpful in a post zombie apocalypse world. I have a question.. On episode 5 (i think that's the most recent one) I don't get the dude in the laboratory is he making a cure or is he making something a lot more powerful?
Spoiler I'd say a cure since he seems pretty upset when the lab blew up his experiments. Perhaps he was close to finding a cure but now that he lost his sample i guess he cant do anythign now.
ITEM: RADIO CONTROLLED TOY CARS WITH VIDEO CAMS Spoiler: I think... ...that was an accident. He knocked over a beaker that was apparently filled with some sort of extreme acid, eating right through his level 4 suit (sort of reminded me of the Alien face hugger blood) and also unfortunately spilled directly into his only specimen. Thereafter, the automatic sterilization protocols of the facility activated and sanitized the spill site, destroying whatever was left of the specimens too But... to answer your question, I think he was trying to determine what the infectious agent in the zombie flesh was... :stickpoke: In other words, he was a bumbling idiot. He probably has a PHD; but he's also a bumbling idiot... :Talktohand: *And a new game for any like minded would be zombie fighter survivalist; with every new entry into this thread, precede your post first with an item that you think would be helpful in a post zombie apocalypse world. i think he was still trying to find A CURE for the disease....remember him saying "that was the last piece of fresh meat" ??? something like that....so with that now gone..he has no other "meats" to do any further testing i just read on the latest issue of entertainment weekly, which featured WALKING DEAD on its cover.....the director says "there will be no CLIFFHANGER" at the end of episode 6, which is the final episode of this short season one....cuz he wants to be fair with the audience and not leave them hanging cuz he doesnt know whether or not there will be a season 2...and nobody in production has any idea this show would be this huge....
ITEM: AMMO RELOADER Maybe he was just upset because he was hoping his last piece of filet mignon, LOL... -lol What? He doesn't know if there will be a season 2? I mean, WTF...? Now I'm pissed... :ugh: *And a new game for any like minded would be zombie fighter survivalist; with every new entry into this thread, precede your post first with an item that you think would be helpful in a post zombie apocalypse world.
