Well i was tossing up between that.. and a gtx 460 1 GB. (which is about 50 bucks cheaper) - but im mroe inclined to get the ati card since its a newer card I know the dollar is 1: 1 but Id prefer to have australian warranty
http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/foru...alright-true-black-120-cpu-cooler-review.html GET IT! same one i have
Dude...that doesn't even support LGA 1156 or 1366. I'd suggest the Corsair h50. It's closed loop liquid. Silent and effective.
what are you talking about? i own a 1366 chipset, and it fits better than a glove. this thing is a beast of a heatsink, one of the top alternatives for air cooled overclocking.
Most if not all off the shelf heat sinks now a days come with some sort of adjustable mounting bracket or a set of brackets for different sockets.
It on sale at NCIX for $49 I think, you need to use the $10 MIR though. Your link said it was for LGA 775. W/e. If it works it works.
Upgraded a lil bit. Binge purchase as I didn't really neeeeed it. AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE @ stock 3.4ghz MSI 870-G45 AM3 Motherboard 4x2GB g.Skill DDR3 1333mhz GIGABYTE Geforce GTX 460 1GB (I'm thinking of getting a second one in like 1-2 months just to SLI it) Going to need a new Power supply that has SLI support. I don't have any extra connectors left. lol. And maybe a new case with optimal air cooling potential. Gonna need a few more case fans.
As good as AMD is price-wise, the Deneb 9xx are essentially all the same, just with higher/lower stock speeds. Considering how most people OC anyways, seeing as they are BE, you might as well get the 940.
I'm not much of an overclocking person, so the price was right. I'll probably try OC this later on up to 3.8-4.0ghz when I swap in a better case for cooling and clean up some of my wires.
I don't see any rebate for it, but uhh so this liquid cooling kind of thing? Do it need to do anything to maintain it or just install and thats it?
It's pretty much set and forget. My custom watercooling loops is the same way. Every now and then I have to top off the reservoir but since the Corsair unit is completely sealed, that isn't necessary.
oh so I dont need to add any liquids later on? Just bought a 700w ocz psu... Which motherboard is good, Asus Sabertooth, EVGA.. or?
Nope. Just set and forget it. Oh just clean out the radiator with compressed air every couple months or so. IMO, if you're not gonna overclock the piss out of it, you can't go wrong with with either of their mid range boards. My modest EVGA board has been running strong for well over a year with the Core i7 overclocked to 4 ghz with both Turbo Mode and Hyper Threading on.
Yea only thing I might try to do is maybe oc the cpu a bit.. Looking for something with the USB3 and Sata3 with SLI.. 3-way sli's probably too much. so what board would be good for that? EVGA got the sexy look.. but who looks inside their computer anyways..
