and memory wise, what should i look for.. high or low cas latency?

 

Pics of your system and guts, kontra? What water system are you using? I'm kinda iffy about water cooling and always paranoid about leaks. Do you have to change the water after a few months or it just keeps recycling and refreshing temperatures?

What temperatures do you get on idle and load?

 

I think you want lower cas latency. But either way, it's gonna set you back about $200 give or take a few, triple channel ram is pricey.

 

I was hoping I can do with 4gb ddr3 for now.. then add-on later.. Won't upgrade up 64-bit right away.. so hope I can get some deals for like $70 or so yeah?

 

If you're running LGA 1366 you should be getting triple channel kits. I haven't seen many kits of 3gb...just 3x2gb and 3x4gb kits.

 

so I can't use 2x2gb?? I mean seems kinda pointless to get the extra 2gb considering 32bit doesn't support it right?

 

I assume most people have made the shift to 64bit. I'm sure you can, but it seems kinda pointless to go Bloomfield if you aren't going use triple channel.

 

so if I run it at 32 it'll just recognize it as double channel? Damn I'm reading about how the new intel is gonna drop next year.. Should I just wait then till price drop? I want to get a ssd and do a clean install if i'm gonna get 64-bit..

 

No. It shouldn't hurt everyday usage, but I have a feeling it would make a difference during stuff like video encoding and anything CPU intensive. You're getting a high end i7, don't cheap out lol. There are cheaper sets of 3x2gb ram, I've seen one on Newegg for about $124. As for price drops, the i7 950 already dropped about $200-$300 from its $600 something price tag. I'm not sure intel will drop then any further, like look at the previous generations high end quad, Core 2 Quad Q9650 or w/e. It's still at the $300 something mark despite the fact that it's a dead socket and that the $200 i5 750 beats it by a considerable margin. My suggestion is to wait for sandybridge and see how they're pricing it, because based on some benchmarks, or w/e, that I saw on anand the new generation stuff blows this generation out of the water to some degree.

These models numbers are damn annoying.. 750,760.. 460,470..

if I go i5 can I go less expensive ram?

 

any body know if a card good enough for games like sports game but can support dual monitors?

 

plan to run dual. but im not much of a gamer, mostly for work. but i have no idea w/ game cards.. i plan to spend $150ish each, so 300ish for both cards. i prefere nvidia.

lol, to clarify, i suggested a lower cpu than an i7 because he is at most going to play games and watch video. why pay so much on a cpu when that money can go into better graphics?

 

I'm too lazy to google them up, but just take the one with USB 3.0 and the new SATA. If you're not overclocking, the motherboard doesn't have to be too fancy.

True, but if you want to have more than 1 graphics card, then X58 is better than the P55 chipset because of PCI bandwidth or w/e. But yes, the i5 750 more then sufficient for gaming and watching videos.

For the graphic cards, you'll notice some show up with a lower model mirroring a higher priced model--that's because they're using two older cards to SLI/Crossfire to keep up with the newer card.

 

If you're just gaming and watching videos, the i5 is enough. Mostly because you only need 1-2 cores for the most part and intels turbo mode really helps it there. Based on what I've noticed, Intel is better clock for clock. The X6 has more cores, which is quite a bargain if you can actually use them all, if not, you're really wasting money. For day to day usage, you'll only got up to two cores. Intels turbo mode really helps you out there. In addition Intel has better TDP, which means a cooler computer as well as lower electricity bills

 

I've read that the i5 was more efficient.

I've also read about how 6gb sata and all that memory jazz is literally a marekting thing, especially if I don't play game?

This is stirctly a work computer.


I was planning on ordering from cyberpc though. I dont want a dell.
