This is just sick. Hot sauce on a kid? Does she think that she could just do anything to the kid just because he's her son?
That is pretty messed. Dangerous if the son caught a cold from the cold shower. And hot sauce? A 3 year old is very sensitive, physically and emotionally. Hot sauce on their tongue is just ridiculous. But what does Mormon have anything to do with the punishment of this child? Obviously the poster is implying that Mormons are crazy and do ridiculous things as in that video... but come on, beating/punishing children is apparent all over the world.
This is called child abuse and the woman needs to be put in jail. The parent may think that she is strict and being a "tough love" advocate, but the approach she takes is way beyond what discipline should be in terms of a toddler's developmental stage. I doubt that Mormon teachings include forced drinking of hot sauce and cold showers for toddlers. These things that were done to him is going to cause a lot of mental issues down the road. The physical abuse are bad but what's worst is the mental, it might effect him in so many level. Serial Killer in the making... She treats that child like a dog, do what you are told, obey me, etc...
Oh I'm not saying you. I'm asking in general, why does it matter that she's Mormon? I mean, it doesn't justify her actions. Abuse is abuse, regardless of religion, race etc.

There is a fine line between discipline and punishment. It's subjective to those that try interpret this; so here is my opinion. I believe a child should be spanked; but, not hit. What this mother has done seems to be excessive punishment and their whole family should get counseling. The mother for anger issues; the daughter for any issues in witnessing this (she may have had this punishment before too); and for the boy not only for being subjected to punishment but to also deal with any behavioral issues if needed.
The sauce is Tapatio. My Mexican family members use it all the time. I think of it as medium spicy to hot; but, definitely too hot for a 3 yo child. The mother knew that it was too hot for her son. When she thought he was going to spit it out, she told him to "swish" the hot sauce in his mouth so as not to burn his tongue more.
is this unethical? yes but is crude, unusual and inhumane? hell no it isn't and i wouldn't say its child abuse either ........ everyone just needs to think about how they were brought up and how friends and family were brought up in the chinese community ?? is this really worse? ....... cold shower and hot sauce? pish-posh my brother went through that and worse.... imo shes just being a strict and disciplinary mother ... just think about your granddad and grandma's beliefs and views and how your mum and dad went through life growing up and the types of punishments they recieved .. this is nothing
are you implying that i don't think about how my parents were punished as kids? my parents had to kneel on durian skin. they had one of those old school wooden metre stick slapped on their hands, against a table. but here's the news bit for you, they were over 10 years old before they got that shit coming to them. this child is a toddler
