Hi There!

so my desktop crapped out on me after an update and i've had to buy a new computer and need to reinstall all the stuff i had before. i've installed the k lite pack already and some of my rmvb files get this screen for audio

Media Type 0:
--------------------------
Audio: RealAudio COOK 44100Hz stereo
AM_MEDIA_TYPE:
majortype: MEDIATYPE_Audio {73647561-0000-0010-8000-00AA00389B71}
subtype: Unknown GUID Name {4B4F4F43-0000-0010-8000-00AA00389B71}
formattype: FORMAT_WaveFormatEx {05589F81-C356-11CE-BF01-00AA0055595A}
bFixedSizeSamples: 1
bTemporalCompression: 1
lSampleSize: 14880
cbFormat: 112

so it will basically play the video but no sound. what do i do about this?

Thanks

You see why the hell are you re-installing something that obviously doesn't work? I already said this before and I say it again installing K-lite is like installing a timebomb on your PC. The thing is bloated (especially with the larger packs and most of the stuff you probably don't need) plus with those play everything codec packs will contain conflicting codecs meaning it will break sometime.

Oh and not installing the latest build (older builds of K-lite are much more terribad) makes matters worst as it is updated for a reason; like they found bug or when new builds of encoders are used along with new features meaning your old edition will not support it if the encoder uses a newer build to encode his videos.

The_Jelly NSFW? :P

Or you could just use realplayer, as much as I dislike it it does work well for rmvb.

actually, i just installed real alternative and now everything works! i thought that k lite had it in there but i guess not. i downloaded it just in case and the files play now.

i only know k lite so that's why i installed it. i've never had a problem with it before which is why i dl'd it again.

10. vlc isn't really good with rmvb... i would just use real player for rmvb.... not that much worse

I already moaned about real a few months back so I spare you guys my further bitching.

This pretty much sums it up -bigsmiles

I like to add also when displaying h264 content, the video is blurry and pixelated especially evident in darker scenes whereas perfectly fine in other players I tested. But this was like early last year so whether or not they fixed it or not I don't really care.

tl;dr - VLC is also shit.

I have some experience in encoding that's why I'm such a picky bitch =p ...... anyway I personally would just stick to Real Alternative.
