I thought about the i5, but I think the 1090T is more future proof, once new applications start to utilize more than 2-4 cores.

I just upped the FSB to 240 and left the multiplier at 16. I could have upped the multiplier and left the FSB lower, but tbh this way was the fastest and easiest and my computer is 100% stable so I'm happy. It was also the easiest way to get my ram to 1600 mhz, it was originally set to 1333 mhz by default (your ram speed changes as you clock up your processor).

The unlocked multiplier on the 1090T is a little pointless unless you are overclocking above 4 GHZ, its the exact same processor as the 1055T and the 1075T so unless you really want to overclock above 4ghz with better liquid cooling you might as well just get a 1055T.

I only bought the 1090T because I got a good deal on it and for only 30 dollars more than the 1055T I figured why not.

    What's your budget?

I'd love to do a seriously budget build for someone. Probably the route i'd go:

    http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138283
    880g mobo $64

    http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103472
    phenom II X4 920 $130

    http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226092
    4gb Mushkin ram $50

    http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152181
    500 gb Spinpoint F3 HDD - $60

    http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817339025
    PSU - $50

    http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133094
    thermaltake v3 case $50

    total: $404

If it was a build under $400 you could probably substitute the processor with an Athlon II X4 635 and drop it another $25.

  5. ahaha fear you do love AMD over intel huh?

    @Knoc Thinking about it and a h50....

    The_Jelly NSFW? :P

Yeah, As good as the h50 is, you need to a good push/pull config for the fans on the radiator which kinda takes away from the silent part of it.

i'm using push/pull and its very quiet.

the loudest fan in my case is my GPU's and it drowns out all the other fans... kinda sucks.

  12. Fuck I think spent more on my system but my setup probably not as good..

I'm thinking of getting on Witcher 2 aswell. Haven't finished 1 though. I haven't played it in so long that I forgot all the set up.

  13. ^ its ok Ecko... there is always room for upgrades!

what are your specs? and around how much did you pay?

I wouldn't feel too bad man, I bought everything around christmas/boxing day sales and I spent every day for almost a month researching parts. I also kept a running spreadsheet analyzing all my purchases on a per dollar basis. I doubt many people have that much dedication to a project like this.

Also, The Witcher 1 starts off so slow, one of the boringest starts to any game i've played. I tried playing it twice, the first time I gave up on it about 30 minutes in. Then i read some good reviews and redownloaded it almost 6 months later. After about the first 2 hours or so I was hooked. I'll be buying the second one for sure.

  15. i'll be honest, i'm kinda regretting my i7.... i'm not even using it to its full potential... i should have just gotten a dual core, and use the rest of the money for other shit lol

  16. same... got the i7 and big ass mugen 2 to overclock it but figured it was fast enough i didnt need to oc it.

  17. I should write out how much I spent.. cause I was shooting for $600 but I think I spent way more.. lol..

    n Akki.. I doun't think I could upgrade it much.. should got a 1366 board instead.. =/.

  18. you have a 1156?

  19. Lets see here

Antec 902: $120 (should have waited to get on sale)
    Wireless Adapter: $22
    OCZ 700w: $80
    i5 760: $175
    G. Skill Ripjaw 1600 2x2gb: $50
    PNY 460 GTX OC: $180
    Corsair XMS3 2x2gb: $54
    Samsung Spinpoint 1TB: $60
    Asus P7P55D Pro: $140

    Grand Total: $881.. got dammn..

but then again.. you reused a graphics card.. so I guess I didn't spend as much. Add on a H50 or 70 maybe a lil later. Might SLI.. n thats about it. Damn had I waited just a bit, I probably would have jumped on the x58 with the i7..
