So far i like this series mainly because it talks about martial arts, but personally I don't like the current actor that plays Wong Fei Hung, I think Gordon Liu fits the character more because he actually knows Hung Gar the current one, i only remember him playing as lok ho dong in Once upon a time in China II with Jet Li but other than that Im not sure if he has any martial arts background because Ive been learning Hung Gar for a while i know certain history of it, like Mok Gwan Lan practiced Mok Ga style before learning Hung Gar from Wong Fei Hung and not like the series said and I'm pretty sure Wong Fei Hung was very heroic since hes a teenager since his father was one of the ten tigers of Canton so Wong Fei Hung would be disciplined really well and not a hot head/a**hole like the series said other than that Im excited to see Liu Xuan in action when she learns Hung Gar although i think the first episode could do a little better in terms of being interesting to the audience...
First episode, was boring. It didn't catch my attension. I find this similar to Fistful of Stances & also related to Martial Arts.. thats why im giving this a go. The story did grow on me.. so i'm expecting it to get better each episode!
So far not very original, plot wise, I rather not see Fala so much, she is pretty and has improved but she is not someone I would like to watch so often, will see how it goes but can't see this being great though.
do ya know whut i ubbbber dun understand...is the engrish name of this series "grace under fire"...how the hell is that "女拳" shouldnt it be something like "lady fist"...or 'lady fighter"..??
Yeah, I also had the similar feeling that it was like "Fistful of Stances" but it also made me think about "Rosy Business 1 and 2" lmfao.
I find this series interesting and I think it will continue to be interesting as well. I like the fact that TVB didn't play with history in casting a young Wong Fei Hung to allow a more photogenic pair up with Liu Xuan.
This is WAAAAAAAY better than 'Fistful of Stances'... that one was crap. All I can remember in 'Fistful of Stances' were a bunch of people eating at the dining table and cry cry cry. Kevin Cheng = wooden dummy. This series on the other hand, has more action, better script, better storyline and better actors (I love the whole cast except for Fala Chen, she's getting very annoying).
It is abit like fistful of stances and i agree.. first few eps was sooo slow... ZZZzzz. and yeh abit simialr to all thosw wong fei fung series. but not it's getting better! lol, yeh the title for this series - i thought that mainland girl is the main character then.
I agreed. It's a bad name. Whoever came up with the name, Grace Under Fire must like an American tv comedy called Grace Under Fire a lot.
in that case idk, i dont like it when he played wong kei ying, neither do i like him playing an older wong fei hung his kung fu is not convincing in my opinion, i think kung fu wise, gordon liu is most qualified because A. he played Wong Fei Hung 20-30 years ago, and B. he actually knows Hung Gar i dont see why they dont choose him because hes under TVB contract...my mom says he doesnt look good enough, gordon looks more like an evil character lol
I think I would prefer someone with 'hair' to play Wong Fei Hung although I know the real Wong Fei Hung was kinda bald too (wikipedia pic)... This is still a TVB drama, they focus more on the 'drama' instead of the fighting, doesn't really bother me to be honest.
Up to date so far and just seen eps 24, surprised how good it is. Keeping me entertained, one of the better 2011 series ive seen so far this year, lets hope the next few eps are just as good man!
