http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/20...x/07/08/yao.ming.retired/index.html?hpt=hp_t2 Wow! The end of a legend. This one man did more for bringing basketball to Asia than all efforts before him combined. Sad to see him go, and especially because of injury.
If i was him, i'll jus sit on the bench while getting paid millions til my contract is out. Unless his contract is out this year..
Why bother? His name alone is still worth millions in endorsements for years to come. He can move back to a villa in China and let his lawyers generate cash flow for him, he doesn't even need to show up, LOL...
i think a lot of ppl who aren't following basketball news won't know who is Yi Jianlian... so for some people, knowing that YM retiring equates to no more chinese basketball players.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Was looking forward to his recovery and only reason why i watched ball and the houston rockets.... well i got toronto and miami naoo..
Lol Yi This guys still going on about the Heat. It's always sad to see a player go down due to injury near their prime. Yao was hall of fame caliber and could have been a all time great. Although I still think he'll be a hall of fame player based on his success as a Chinese player and how he's helped develop the game overseas. It just would have made me happier for him to be inducted through his talent alone. The news of Yao's retirement also reminded me of Brandon Roy's situation. Coined to be the next Kobe, but everytime he steps on the court he kills his knees, so young too. Sad to see these players never reach their full potential :(
with a guy so tall.... it puts a lot of stress on the knees so i can see why he chose not to come back.
It's unfortunate but I saw it coming, with his height and size, injuries really ended his career on a bad note. Now China have only maybe one not some famous player in the NBA.
i wonder if Yi Jianlian will be an allstar cause every chinese man who watches NBA b/c of a chinese man playing will vote for him. THat's pretty much what happened to Yao even though he injured his foot and didn't even play. lol
