this is really unfortunate. i was hoping that he would make a recovery and come back. this retirement will be rather sad but i guess it was coming in certain ways due to his height and his size, def would put stress on his legs. plus the intensity of the nba, i think maybe if he didn't play so intensely maybe he could have played longer. then again, it was rather unfortunate that he got injured, if he did not get the injury maybe he would still be playing. but i guess we still may see him in the future maybe despite retirement if it does heal and he recovers in a few years time. hopefully that will happen but obviously it is a hope. nevertheless, it was great to see him play and compete with the best and he has been a very good role model and has increased awareness and the amount of people playing basketball in china. in terms of pay, i'm sure he will still be fine with lots of endorsements and he has made a real name for himself and that is prob going to pay more than basketball.
well, there's always jeremy lin. Hopefully, he'll improve to gain the others trust in him the coming season.
Lol right. Forgot about Jeremy Lin! I didn't follow basketball last season so i kinda forgot 'bout him. Lets see who makes all star first.. Yi or Jeremy
yi has been traded so many times the last few seasons....lin doesn't get the minutes...be surprised if either one become an all star. -whistle
definitely sad to see yao go... he deserved better. before his injuries really started to take a toll, he was definitely one of the best, if not the best, centers in league. he was never disdainful towards the game and genuinely showed compassion to all those he played with. i really do hope he remains with the nba in some capacity.
2 things. 1. didn't jeremy lin get dropped down to D-League? Did he get brought back? im not too sure. 2. Yao breaks himself everytime he jumps, so i didn't really see the big deal about this, he was going to sooner or later.
I think we should be glad that he played as long and as good as he did. Remember guys like Shawn Bradley, Manut Bol? They were yao height and were not very good. I rather see a guy that was great for short career than something bad with a long career.
