YEAR 7 WOKE UP TO SEE THAT cHEEZ tv WAS NOT ON BUT wtc TERRORIST ATTACK, GOT TO HIGH SCHOOL AND TALK ABOUT IT, WE ALL THOUGHT IT WAS A MOVIE.... God damn it I hit caps lock and now cbf to rewrite it...
When it happen.... i was in middle school and people were taking their kids out of school! i was in NY this past weekend and there were a lot of cops in the street due to the multiple threats....
i was in 8th grade in my health class at IS 131 (for those who live NYC should be familiarize with this school)..... i saw the whole thing except for the first plane and felt the impact of the towers... sad and tragic..
people told me the twin towers....are still there...is that right...??.. sorts like when ya chop a tree down the stump is still there....is it the same..??.. nyc peopleee...??..
^ i think she meant the aftermath as in Sept 2011....but ya, they are rebuilding the twin towers and it will be taller i believe..do a quick google search BB
im too lazy to google search =P so they're taking down the old one and rebuilding it..?..or just building on top of the old twin towers buildings...
While it is possible for construction to retrofit a new edifice onto or into pre-existing structural foundations, in this case IIRC, the remnant basement infrastructure of both buildings were removed. Instead, within what is considered their historic footprint, two waterfall memorial displays were built. The new office towers in their place, are being erected around the perimeter of the memorial plaza.
Also from what I've seen on the news, the two holes which once served to house the foundation of the buildings have been transformed into a memorial fountain
I didn't even know there was an attack on our homeland. I saw the news broadcast but wasn't following it due to work. My first impression was the entire attack was from some sort of action movie where we normally see planes crashing through building and explosions everywhere. I didn't have a clue until I checked my blackberry later that day and whoa .. I remembered just sitting there totally blanked out for awhile before hitting the computer and following the news development. My friends were all okay but 2 of their family members weren't so lucky. Most of them left NYC afterward; too depressing to stay around. Back to ya'll, I can't believe people were still in HS .. wtf ..
I remember that morning I had to catch a flight. I was scared as hell. I went any way. The flight was full but really quiet.
