1) you can't burn 58gb. 2) do a virtual mount. I did a quick google search, and it seems "VDHMount" can mount VDH files. Then you can see what's inside. edit: also I don't think recovery would take up like 200gb. My HP had like 10gb dedicated to recovery, I'm not sure about Toshiba machines. Either way, that much is not necessary to recover the C:, since evidently right now it has less than 200gb used. That backup folder thing looks familiar. My sister's desktop has the same issue going on, and I just press dlt on it (knowing she does not have a recovery partition). Backup must have been applied somewhere, or else this won't happen.

I believe the 58GB in the windowsimagebackup folder (everything in this folder) is the resulting image of your notebook's C drive made on 28/08/2011. This is created via win7's backup and restore tool. So I don't think it's necessary to use daemon tools as you be looking at exactly what your system was like at the point the image was created. Basically if something fucks up (virus, registry errors etc etc) you can restore to the system to what it was like on the 28/08/11 in this case. Ideally though 2 images should be made; one from when you first booted your system (at factory settings) and another from when you installed all your programs. Not sure how the HDDrec folder is created though, I assuming it's something else along these lines (too lazy to look at all the screens) =p

well ur other option is... copy all the stuff u "need" to an external drive and then format and start fresh =)

The system image backup is usually done manually as far as I'm aware as it takes lots of space since it creates a mirror of your drive however you can check whether or not win7 is regularly doing backups on that data drive; go to start > all programs > maintenance > backup and restore. This explains fully what a system image backup is: - So like I said it really depends on yourself whether or not you find it useful or not. As I said I keep 2 images; one from when I first booted my system (at factory settings) and another from after I installed all the programs along with all window updates. Both of my images are around 20GB each. So If I need to reformat because of corruption, virus/malware, dead HDD or clean up mess on my notebook (registry etc), I just use the 2nd image with all the programs and updates saving me time re-installing everything (the first image is really just a precaution). I personally I won't keep that image your using for obivous reasons. Out of interest is your data drive just is partition of your main HDD? i.e. Does your notebook only contain one HDD drive? If so then that HDDrecovery folder maybe the recovery data Toshiba put in although I don't understand why it would take up the other 200GB. So yeah, like I said above, if it was me I just wipe it since I know what I am doing and your fucked nevertheless if your HDD dies completely soooooo it's really your call on what to do. But before you do anything as I don't know what Toshiba provided with your notebook, make sure you have all the discs, drivers, OS disc, etc. Actually it would be retarded if they haven't provided you with anything and just relied on that partition but just in case check before you do anything.
I deleted some.. So it's okay to delete literally everything that's on the data drive right? Which are these below: Folders and files that are inside? But I don't see the option 'turn off backup system' ...
make a backup of the needed system recovery files thru the usually included system restoration program it usually backups your os so if anything goes wrong u can boot from those discs! but if u have an extra copy of windows os laying around u dont have to delete away!!!
