go to Hong Kong then take tours to other country. Japan will be the most expensive and i mean by like double what korea would cost and the other cities are pretty cheap. Think about it. I went to HK --> Korea --> HK -->Japan --> HK and it was about 21k HKD. I am thinking of doing taiwan, vietnam, and thailand next time

I'd go Japan. Reasons, you help out their economy, and second, it's actually fun despite the fact that they have been hit by the Earthquake.

Shopping in Japan and the food is pretty good, gain a feel pounds when i went there! I guess that'll be the same for Korea too -lol

It's a shame that you left out Bhutan, a country where one can get original Tibetan type religious culture, but without the Chinese political influence; nor is it as well traveled (ie. spoiled by tourists) as Nepal. It is often described by many as the Last Buddhist Kingdom. If I had enough money, I would go there.

It depends how long you are going for. If you are travelling or a long time you can fly to Hong Kong then get cheap tickets to all of the other places that you wanted to go too. Flight tickets will be cheap from Hong Kong because it's near on central (of flights) to get to those places. Hostels will not be expensive if you find the right place to book it.

It can be a little or a lot, depending on your finances, the time you fly, where you book the ticket from, round trip versus one way, economy vs first class, length of stay, et cetera. Check with your travel agent or go on line for a quote. If you ask here, you're going to get all kinds of meaningless answers (like this one, LOL...)

Looking at a random website from Google and found farecompare.com it said a round trip from HK to Seoul is $346 USD, one way is not that much difference. Prices in travel agencies in HK maybe cheaper you never know :)
