Dav seems like he wants to cater the league to his liking. For me, I'd put great thought into it, and I'm willing to even put up a gift card. I don't know how the crowd feels, but I feel like this community is great and guys here have PASSION. That's why I'm pushing for it, and that's why I want to organize something. I think DAV is great in stepping up, but I just feel that if guys are some what serious, we should change up the league, make it fun, make it worth-while. IN the end, it depends on you guys. If you guys wanna compete, I have no problem putting out a gift for the winner. But if you guys wanna do a buy in, I"m fine too. Maybe $5-$10 USD and prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd. All I want is to improve the prior year and to have fun. Thanks.
i dunno how dav is catering the league to his own liking... he suggested cats, i shot one of them down, i don't mind the other... so i don't see how it's catered to him, he's asking us what cats we want and we're openly voicing what we want...
what i was trying to get at was that you were beating around the bush...im sure if you said you wanted to make it, DAv would have stepped down since it's less work for him. Just say that you want to try being commissioner this year and that is end of story.

First of all, I am in no way catering the league to my liking. The fact that you think this is the case saddens me and makes my efforts thus far seem like a waste. I have been adamant about leaving the league settings default, but I've also tried my best to acquiesce to your want for more stat categories. I don't have anything against you, but if the majority of participants do not want things changed, then I will not change them. It's as simple as that. Secondly, if you asked me, I would say YOU are the one who wants to cater the league to your own liking. But please, do explain what you mean by that. Time and time again, you (and it seems only you) have been complaining and voicing your frustration about a lack of categories and a lack of changes. If I (or anyone else for that matter) made changes to the league, but only you were content with those changes, then tell me that that's fair. And finally, I have no problem letting someone else be commissioner. Heck, it would even relieve me of my workload. As kdotc has said, if you want to be commissioner, stop beating around the bush and say so already. I wouldn't object to you being commissioner, though I am getting increasingly uncomfortable as to what changes you would implement to make the league more "fun." In regards to the prizes and buy-in thing, I am sure we have explored this possibility previously. Things just get increasingly difficult with everyone spread out all over the world. If you want prizes, you might want to talk to someone like shino. My task has been to just get a league going and get a league going alone. There's also the issue of who would be in charge of the money. I am already involved in a money league, and I would not mind doing another, but I can't speak for everyone else on this board. I am sure not everyone would be comfortable with a buy-in. To close, I am not throwing you under the bus. I am just disconsolate that you have my intentions all wrong.

instead of simply saying "a re-adjustment to the cats"... what cats are you talking about... and we can vote on it ffs... list out all the cats you want added... there's 12 of us on here, you just need 7 of us to agree with the cats... it's always been this way...
Espresso complains every year lol...if you want new categories other members have to agree on it too. don't join Espresso's league (if he makes one) he'll just add new cats without letting people know!

espresso are you and your friend, Baller and Team Disease? at the moment, we tentatively have 12 teams. what draft time is best for everyone? khaotic you said after the 17th, and aoes you preferred before the 16th, but what about everybody else? ideally, i'd like to get this over with by next weekend the 18th, but whatever works best for everyone else is what we will do. as for the time, would 11:30pm EST (last year's draft was 11:00pm EST) work for most people?
yes, we have enough already. i was hoping for SUNDAY draft. also, i still think we should change up the scoring categories or something. NOTHING SAME should be the same as last years, otherwise it'd be monotnous. i feel more scoring categories should be implemented.
its really too late to change stuff around...what should happen is everyone should state their preferences and opinions about the leagues and then Dav can consider all options then have a vote...but its too late to have everyone do that now...just stick with this and do the changes next year..people have exams and stuff so they have not time to think about the scoring system and stuff and just want to do a fantasy league
I'm just saying if you find fantasy basketball "mundane and boring" then I doubt adding more categories will help you with that. It's going to be the same thing, pick a team, make trades, check every day, and repeat. As for the time. I have 2 exams Friday and 1 more on Saturday so I'm pretty busy this whole week, since those 3 happen to my hardest of my 5... I might be able to do 17th at night EST, but it's not too likely, at least until around Thursday when i get more info on what's happening.
More categories bring diff't context to the game. Different stats and categories will help. Obviously it's there for a competitive reason, but if people don't care, they can standardize it. There's no reason NOT TO increase categories; let me put it that way. But of course, you do something that makes sense. I don't want to beat the dead horse, but make it competitive, make it meaningful, otherwise, why play then? Fantasy basketball requires dedication as it's a long season w/ a lot of games. All I'm requesting is for him to take control and 'change' it up. I'm asking for him to 'improve' the league. Otherwise, what's the purpose of everyone playing to begin with? Where's the drive? LOL That's all. UP to you guys though. If it's for 'fun', then the draft time shouldn't matter.
The stats categories were very biased last year, the set standard discounts a lot of individual stats that can make a difference. I was tired of seeing the 4 to 5, or 7 to 2, and 6 to 3. I wanted more stats, more surprises, more categories that would make it fun and make it more strategic. I dunno what else I can say about it. Most people don't care, and I'm rather shocked to see that the crowd is that laid back. LOL Oh well. that's all. The call is on DAV, he has the TITLE. He does not need approval from the others, he can do what he wants. If I'm the only advocate for something diff't, than why not see through it?

The problem with more categories is that they create disparity (as Aoes said before, some cats would diminish the values of bigs while others would give them a significant advantage over other positions, and vice versa with other positions). There's a reason all fantasy leagues recommend the 9 standard categories that they have. Let me reiterate, this is not a money league... I don't know why you're so serious about things. Somehow, we always wind up back at square one. Of all the leagues I have ever been a part of, no one but you has ever complained about the standard 9-cats. You're more so the exception than the rule and I'm rather shocked you're making such a fuss over a recreational league (no money/prizes involved). Tell me that as commissioner, David Stern does not need approval of the other 29 owners to move forward to exercise his power. And the latest veto of the CP3 trade bullshit doesn't count because that's unprecedented. Even if I did add more categories/changes without asking others because I had the "title," I am certain most of the participants would either quit the league or just decide to not give a fuck anymore and put no effort into competing. Honestly, at this point, I would NOT be at all comfortable with you running a league as you are entering drunk-on-power-David-Stern territory. Thank you. Couldn't have said it any better myself.
