Nice, I think i would do the same and fly back to collect. Free Air fare and maybe some spare spending money.
Just need a lot of clarification about this -confused I'm an australian citizen but ive got a hong kong permanent identity card (3 stars) 1. Am I still eligible for the $6000 payout? 2. Do I have to go to Hong Kong to register? 3. Do I have to go to Hong Kong to collect the payout? 4. I've been told that I need to go back to Hong Kong every 3 years to renew my identity card (which I have been doing). Is this true? If anybody can help clear this up for me I'd be very grateful. I'm finding it hard to find info about this unfortunately. Thanks!

Apparently there's a way to get it without physically going to HK. It involves the chinese embassy and an hsbc account... Something along the lines of that. My dad's going through it this way. It does use up some money, but the 6k HKD should cover it and more.
do you need 3 stars to be eligible for the $6000 scheme? i thought as long as you have a hk id, you're good?
no you need stars, i have an HK ID card 0 stars cause i was born in canada but parents born in HK, i'm not eligible for the $6000. oh my wife just got her $6000, but guys no rush if you wait to get it they will give you a bit more then $6000
