Maggie Cheung, Felix Wong, Kenix Kwok, and Frankie Lam Bite TVB, Signing With City Telecom

Discussion in 'Chinese Entertainment' started by b-lee, Jan 15, 2012.

  1. Tvb screwed Felix a few years ago for retarded reasons even when he was considered a golden tiger so now its coming to bite them in the ass.. say goodbye to the monopoly and with competition there will be better productions hopefully.

I thought Maggie Cheung is super troublesome, major dramatic queen. Is she worth the 7 times salary?

... 31 scriptwriters, 20 producers and directors, and nearly 500 experienced production staff members ..."

And how many stars now? So it's the end TVB's era and City Telecom's era now?

tvb may have spent money to build their actors/actresses but think about how much money those ppl made for them. tvb isn't going to promote someone just because they work for them. they promote their money making ppl. yeah they spent the money to build their careers but their return on investment must be at least 10 fold if not more. yes money is a primary decision makers but at the same time tvb put so many limitations on their ppl that they had a hard time supplementing their income. if tvb treated their actors better in the terms of their contract i dont think as many ppl woud have switched. i think a lot of those actors would've liked to stay at tvb even if the price per ep is less but have more freedom to work in china. it doesn't sound like tvb treats their ppl very well. actors and their families have been complaining about it for a long time.

A big exodus from the main tv station...seems like the golden age have past from TVB and their monopoly is truly over...this is only good for competition and raising standards for us...TV addicts. Losing a few big name artists won't be too much of an ordeal...BUT losing talented backroom staff such as the main creativity productions such as script writers and lead producers will rip out the core of a once great team. Its going to be a BIG rebuilding process...

It's not that big of a lost, most of these actors/actresses are pretty old, Bernice isn't even that good of an actresses, It's actually a good thing. We'll be seeing some fresh people taking their places. I do like Frankie Lam but overall, those that are going over aren't on my list of actors/actresses that I like these days. A few hadn't been seen in years anyways. What's more important, I think are those 31 scriptwriters, 20 producers and directors, and nearly 500 experienced production staff members. They will have to seek out other experienced staffs and find young and creative staff to fill that huge hole for the future,

TVB will be fine, it'll be great for the viewers, more things to watch and hopefully better quality shows for all these TV companies competing for viewership.

But, ATV should be the one that should be worrying, they are in such a bad shape already and now they have more strong companies taking the piece of the pie. ATV has so little already, they just might just disappear soon.

Going to wait to see how this turns out, tvb will have to up it's game for sure, rating hits will happen if city telecom turns out to great, if the staff is given more freedom, this could be very bad for tvb.

Tvb have been cheap for years, treating staff poorly, low wages, to many rules, big wake up call, having to promote actresses like kate to first tier is just real sad, it's all win for us no matter what happens.

They got so many people so quickly lol I'm actually looking forward to see what City Telecom's first series will be about. Also, they start filming in March which pretty quick as well. It'd be funny if their first series really sucked lol I hope not though lol

    This is great news!
TVB has been spoiled for the past couple of years. There needs to be competition to force those crappy writers to make better endings and pay their actors/actresses more money.
I personally hope more people would leave TVB because it is painful to watch them waste their golden years with a company that is top-down and oblivious to competition from mainland china/asia.
