Anonymous Is Launching a MegaUpload Alternative?

According to the site, Anonyupload is setting up servers and should be online by Wednesday. "For your safety, our infrastructure will be out of the U.S jurisdiction ( Russia )." Ha, ha, yeah, because Russian servers are always super-safe.

Who knows if this is legit; it's been met with some skepticism among Anonymous members on Twitter.

  3. Where were the MegaUpload's servers originally located?

Edit: nvm it was initially based in Hong Kong.

I wonder how Anon will avoid the same scenario as MU.. The whole reason why the Anon entity is hard to take down is because it doesn't have an administration, or a group of people representing Anon.. By setting up file sharing servers, they would need an administration team to handle operations related to the servers, which can and will be tracked down by feds...

    Imma wait a bit too.

But fuckk.. my files on MU!!!

    Really love these anon guys.

But is the problem that people are making money off pirated stuff? I mean i know pirating itself is wrong, but if people dont make money off it (a cent per download or any type of reward system).. it'll be "safe"?

They also had 630 servers in Holland :) The main problem was the servers in Virginia, US which made it possible for the US to act.

  9. Oh okay. Thanks for the info. Now the US is going to lose a LOT of business, regardless of whether the content is pirated or not. The econ is going to get hit once again, as a result.

Someone pointed out on my earlier post about anonyupload - taken from their website.

"We defend Free Internet, We supports the Anonymous Group,
but we aren't an Anonymous member ! "

I guess even if the site registered owner is an Anonymous member, he wouldn't admit it, right?

Frankly, all this asking around at this point is fruitless. IMHO, all the players are going to lay low and see which ways the legal winds blow. Each company that owns servers likely has teams of lawyers fine tooth combing the case to see where, how and why the MU guys were arrested, charged, tried and convicted. Then they would see how that demonstrated particular legal vulnerability applies to their own operations, and then come up with ways (if any) to circumvent those vulnerabilities. Until then, anyone who offers such services at this point is either a fool, or a scam.
